Months after being left for dead by the side of the road, a "miracle dog" named Xena the Warrior Puppy is changing the life of an 8-year-old boy with autism.

Up until two months ago, Jonny Hickey was a solitary and quiet child. Diagnosed with autism, he had difficulty forming connections with other people and would isolate himself, rarely speaking, even to family members.

Then, in February, the Hickeys adopted a rescue dog who immediately became attached to the youngest member of the family. Jonny's friendship with Xena the Warrior Puppy brought him out of his shell — he began to talk, sing, and take a greater interest in the world around him. "He is the happiest child that I've ever seen him be in eight years," his mother Linda told the Today show.

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton says forum crowd in Shakopee was ‘juvenile’

“I’ve been all over the state and I’ve never had people behave this rudely,” he said.

RACHEL E. STASSEN-BERGER

When confronting an engaged, excited audience, there is disagreeable and then there is rude.

DFL Gov. Mark Dayton says he found the latter in Shakopee on Monday night.

During one of the “Meetings With Mark” open forums he has held statewide, Dayton stated his belief that lawmakers should get a raise in pay. As he was explaining why, some audience members began heckling and interrupting him, yelling that legislative work is supposed to be part-time.

But, Beard said, “It wasn’t, I would say, rude. I would just say it was an engaged audience.” Although about two-thirds of the audience appeared to be against Dayton’s plans to raise taxes, Beard said it was not the most hostile event he has seen in his six terms at the Capitol.

(Snip)

“It was rude,” Dayton said, “and if they can’t handle the truth, they can’t handle the truth, but that’s the truth as I perceived it.”

Ok spot the silly statement....win valuable prizes....amaze your friends....be a hero to your kids...extra point for why its silly....speling an granmur do count.

PS Apparently this is heckling

Right Hand To God....This has to be the most depressing thing I've read in quite awhile.

I need a LARGE glass of whiskey.

H/T Power Line

What makes me really happy is that the president says now we don't have to worry about anything else. Our worries are over! Wow -- that is so great!

Now I just wish he would make it stop snowing in Monument.

The Community Safety Act Puts Mayoral Candidates' NYPD Views on Display

John Surico

Mar. 27 2013

And, for the sake of political timeliness, a bill titled the Community Safety Act is making its way through the City Council. This bundle of legislation includes a part that would staff the NYPD with an Inspector General for oversight, given the recent flare of scandal for the boys in blue. Essentially, it would create cops for the cops.

The bill recently picked up support from City Council Speaker Christine Quinn. But Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and Mayor Bloomberg are not at all down with such a measure, arguing that it will stall normal procedures by adding another layer of bureaucracy. As a result, the act has already been labeled "controversial," laying the path to a showdown that will involve all of those running for the coveted throne in City Hall.

The evil ultra right wing hate filled racist Fox News weights in

Update: Speaker Chris Quinn says no to loony measure, but passage seems likely

Film Studios Say New York Gun Law May Ban Props

THOMAS KAPLAN

May 1, 2013

NYGUNS-1-articleLarge.jpg

Ryder Washburn of the Specialists Ltd., in a vault in Manhattan used to display the many types of weapons that the company makes available for use in film and television productions.

ALBANY — The sweeping gun control measure signed by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and hailed by Democratic leaders has a surprising critic: Hollywood.

Officials in the movie and television industry say the new laws could prevent them from using the lifelike assault weapons and high-capacity magazines that they have employed in shows like “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and films like “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Twenty-seven film and television projects, including programs like “Blue Bloods” and “Person of Interest,” are now in production in New York State using assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, according to the Motion Picture Association of America. Industry workers say that they need to use real weapons for verisimilitude, that it would be impractical to try to manufacture fake weapons that could fire blanks, and that the entertainment industry should not be penalized accidentally by a law intended as a response to mass shootings.
