The Week in Pictures: Emperor’s New Clothes Edition

Steven Hayward

November 29, 2014

This week we learned that Hagel is not Hegel: he does not represent the end of Obama’s historical mission to return the U.S. to its isolation of the 1920s and 1930s. (But nice of Obama to give Iran seven more months to build a Bomb. It must be frustrating to Obama that it is taking so long.) And people are starting to catch on to Obama’s imperial presidency. Oh yeah, there were riots in Missouri, and an attempt to revive the Occupy vibe in it aftermath. Good luck with that. Anyway, hope you all had a great Thanksgiving feast.

The Star Tribune reports Minnesota is the top state in the nation for turkey production.

I knew it!!! I knew it!!!!!! LMFAO.gif wink.png

You can thank my Uncle Matt. After WWII he started turkey farming outside "beautiful scenic" Atkin Mn. By the late 50's you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a turkey farm.

Comedian plasters NYC with prank posters
Amber Jamieson
November 30, 2014

sshalfaposter_102612467.jpg

He’s the new poster boy for Brooklyn comedy.

Comedian Jason Saenz is plastering the city and confusing his Greenpoint neighbors with 20-plus parody posters in the last month.

One advertises a stoop sale.
“Perfectly Good Stoop for sale. $600 OBO,” it reads.

Another says, “Missing: self esteem. If found please call . . . ah what’s the point?”

A bill posted on the sidewalk declares, “Wanted: Telephone Pole.”

Famous Atheists Including Richard Dawkins, David Baddiel And Dan Snow Reveal Where They Get Their Values From

Louise Ridley

29/11/2014

Throughout November, The Huffington Post UK is featuring its Beyond Belief series, chronicling the remarkable lives of Britons who've taken on their faith to create a force for change.

This month, The Huffington Post UK has been uncovering the stories of people whose religious beliefs drive them to change society.

But these figures are the minority, according to our research which found that more than 60% of people say they are not religious.

One in eight Britons also said atheists tend to be more moral than religious people, compared to just 6% who say atheists are less moral.

We asked nine notable atheists, all members of the British Humanist Association, to tell us where they draw their values from in modern life. Answers varied from parents, to science, to human rights law, school teachers, Socrates and Dickens novels...

Richard Dawkins, evolutionary biologist and writer

What are the values and morals that guide your life?

The values of a typical twenty first century person, whether religious or not.

Do dogs understand words or emotions?

FoxNews

Come boy! Off the couch! Aww, who's my widdle fur baby?

It's an age-old debate: Do dogs understand the words their owners say to them, or are they just cuing in to the tone of voice?

It turns out it may be both: Man's best friend not only hears the meaning of human speech, but also perceives the emotion behind it, new research finds.

Although the new findings don't prove that dogs fully understand all of the emotional aspects of human speech, they do show that dogs are at least paying attention to it, said study co-author Victoria Ratcliffe, a doctoral candidate in psychology at the University of Sussex in England.

Beverly Hills Shooting, Bank Robbery Shut Down Rodeo Drive

Aaron Couch, Erik Hayden

4:47 PM PST 12/01/2014

Shots were fired inside the lobby of the Luxe Rodeo Drive Hotel in Beverly Hills Monday, after police responded to a bank robbery at a nearby Bank of America.

At roughly 4:25 pm there was an officer involved shooting in the Luxe Hotel lobby that left one suspect injured, according to Renato Moreno, Lt. with The Beverly Hills Police Department. It was possibly linked to a robbery at a Bank of America earlier Monday.

Police said the suspect was being transported to a local hospital. No officers sustained injuries, Moreno stated.

Rodeo Drive was shut down as police swarmed the area. Paramedics were seen attending to a suspect who was shot by police inside the Luxe Rodeo Drive. At approximately 4:48 p.m., an ambulance left the hotel with police following, as tourists on the street snapped photos, a witness told THR.

People Are Supporting Darren Wilson In An Incredible Way That Will Drive Race Baiters Crazy

http://www.westernjournalism.com/online-donations-darren-wilson-pour-ex-cops-legal-safety-woes-loom-large/?utm_source=MailChimp&utm_medium=email&utm_content=top-story&utm_campaign=DailyEmail12.02.14

Screen-shot-2014-12-02-at-12.19.00-PM.pn

Online crowdfunding is proving to be both a comfort and a source of substantial funds for Darren Wilson.

After resigning from the Ferguson, Missouri, police force without severance pay, Wilson apparently has no job prospects; and he still faces all sorts of daunting challenges — both legal and safety-related — despite not being indicted by the grand jury in the August death of Michael Brown.

But Darren Wilson and his new wife will reportedly be receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars from online donation efforts organized by an anonymous supporter. In fact, according to a post on dailymail.co.uk, the amount of money pouring in from crowdfunding could soon exceed $1 million.

The woman who founded the movement to support Darren Wilson has spoken out and revealed that the Ferguson police officer could have a $1 million war chest.

The supporter said that she knew of at least $500,000 from two donation funds set up in his name but that was a ‘conservative estimate’ – and the total could be seven figures.

Shortly after then-officer Wilson shot and killed Michael Brown in a confrontation on a residential Ferguson street, other crowdfunding sites were launched that reportedly raised a good deal of money for Wilson before the sites were shut down as violent protests over the killing intensified.

It’s likely that Darren Wilson will need whatever money can be raised on his behalf for more than everyday living expenses. Not only is Eric Holder’s Justice Department continuing its investigation into whether civil rights charges will be filed against the former Ferguson cop, but the parents of Michael Brown have indicated they may sue Wilson in civil court.

The effort to secure online donations for Darren Wilson is not the only crowdfunding initiative related to the Ferguson shooting and the resulting unrest, which included well documented vandalism, looting, and arson.

Not @Valin's kind of chick, I'm afraid.

Oh I don't know. Wait a couple of months my coating recipe, and I could do something.

Frankly.....I'm shocked! You'd put a coat on a chick that's wearing only an ammo belt & a 12 gauge?

Justice Served When Man Wearing Military Uniform on Black Friday Gets Called Out for What He Really Is

Charles Samuel

Dec 2 2014

Note: This video contains foul language.

http://youtu.be/e9TlpNkVJcQ

If you’re going to fake your identity to take advantage of Black Friday sales, make sure you get your details straight. And make sure you’re not posing as a U.S. Ranger. One man in Pennsylvania is finding that out the hard way.

To take advantage of some Black Friday sales at the Oxford Valley Mall in Pennsylvania, Sean Yetman threw on his military garb and headed out to do some shopping. Things were going smoothly for him until somebody with a camera and some basic military questions confronted him about his military history.

The person behind the camera says he’s served in the Army before and spotted Yetman’s sloppy, reckless military garb from a distance. Yetman apparently overlooked the most basic of details, including where to place the American flag on his right arm and how his boots should look.
