Biden Admin Awards Massive No-Bid Contracts to Dem-Connected Firm with $600k Tax Lien

The Biden administration has awarded private companies hundreds of millions of dollars in no-bid contracts to house illegal aliens amid an unprecedented surge at the southern border. One of the major recipients is a Democrat-linked logistics company that owes hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid taxes.

Federal law prohibits agencies from awarding grants to companies with unpaid federal taxes. But Deployed Resources, a New York-based contractor that owes $585,075 in unpaid taxes, received $964 million in federal contracts this year to house illegal immigrants in North Carolina and Texas. That windfall comes as Deployed Resources cultivated ties to the Democratic Party.

Tom Ziemba, an executive at Deployed Resources and president of its sister company, Deployed Services, has contributed more than $34,000 to Democrats, and has consulted for various Democratic groups. His ex-wife, Julie Mason, served as chief of staff for Vice President Kamala Harris’s husband until June 2022. Mason joined Deployed Services earlier this year as executive vice president for communications.

"The federal government has numerous controls to ensure award recipients are lawful and ethical actors, but these appear to be disregarded amid the Biden administration’s humanitarian crisis at the border," said Pete McGinnis, the communications director for the Functional Government Initiative, a government watchdog group.:snip:

Bob Menendez accused of acting as a foreign agent for Egypt in new indictment

Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) was charged with violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act in a new indictment brought Thursday by federal prosecutors in New York.

Menendez, the former head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, stands accused in the indictment of having conspired to work on behalf of the government of Egypt without registering as a foreign agent.

Menendez, while still a sitting member of the Senate, stepped down from his position on the committee last month after he was initially indicted on three charges over allegations he accepted bribes to use his position of authority to aid the Egyptian government.:snip:

Introducing RCI's Biden Investigations Timeline

In RealClearInvestigations, Ben Weingarten presents a timeline of events focusing on federal authorities’ pursuit of alleged Biden family corruption. It's relevant to the House impeachment inquiry getting under way, which has already produced a chronology of the Bidens' alleged influence-peddling. Here RCI sets forth the federal responses to that activity, which the inquiry will also scrutinize.

Highlights:

  • The timeline covers major threads, including the development and collapse of Hunter Biden’s plea deal; IRS whistleblower allegations of slow-walking and subversion of the case against him; and alleged retaliation by authorities and Hunter’s lawyer against the whistleblowers.
  • It also covers the seeming discrepancies between assertions of Attorney General Merrick Garland and Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss over Weiss’ independence and authority; and conflicts between congressional investigators and the Justice Department and FBI as the two sides pursued alleged Biden family corruption in their own ways.
  • The timeline also details what the IRS whistleblowers and others saw as Delaware Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf's persistent obstruction of the case against Hunter Biden, and her pushing of his ultimately aborted plea deal.
  • Also brought into sharp relief: the intersection of the first Trump impeachment and multiple Trump indictments with what some will surely see as a double standard toward Biden family corruption.

The timeline can be accessed by clicking this link and will be updated as warranted.

Judge OVERTURNS Bridgeport, CT mayoral primary election after Democrat clerk busted for ballot stuffing

Connecticut Judge William Clark overturned the results of Bridgeport's Democratic mayoral primary on Wednesday after a video emerged showing a supporter of current Mayor Joe Ganim allegedly stuffing ballots into an absentee ballot drop box.

The videos, Clark said, "are shocking to the court and should be shocking to all the parties."

"Clark ordered the parties to confer with each other, and with election officials, within 10 days to discuss scheduling a new primary," Connecticut Public reported.

This is mere days before the November 7 election day. Clark overturned the results, saying that these allegations were enough to throw out the primary results. In that Sept. 12 primary, incumbent Ganim won by 251 votes out of a total 8,173 cast, per Connecticut Public.

What really sealed the deal for Clark, however, is that Ganim's win was secure by absentee ballots in his favor.

"The volume of ballots so mishandled is such that it calls the result of the primary election into serious doubt and leaves the court unable to determine the legitimate result of the primary," Clark said in a ruling. :snip:

Jury Convicts Powerful Chicago Democrat On 13 Federal Corruption Charges

A jury convicted former Chicago Alderman Ed Burke on Thursday on 13 federal corruption charges.

Burke was found guilty of racketeering, bribery and attempted extortion following six weeks of a federal corruption trial, the New York Post (NYP) reported. The 79-year-old was convicted on 13 of the 14 charges brought against him, according to the outl

Burke was indicted for using his Chicago City Council position to bring business from private developers to his own law firm, according to the outlet. He reportedly targeted the developer 601W Companies LLC of New York, which was working on a $600 million renovation to Chicago’s Old Post Office, a Burger King restaurant and the liquor store chain Benny’s Beverage Depot.

“Did we land the, uh, tuna?” Burke reportedly asked former Alderman Danny Solis, who wore a wire for two years as federal investigators probed the case. Another recording captured Burke saying the developers could “go f%@# themselves” if they believed they would receive his favorable treatment.

The recordings captured Burke, who was accused of shutting down the Burger King remodel, making comments about Jewish people and his influence, according to the outlet. Burke, who is Roman Catholic, said Jewish people “deal with Jews to the exclusion of everyone else … unless there’s a reason for them to use a Christian” in reference to the lead developer of the Old Post Office renovation project.:snip:

Former Los Angeles councilman sentenced to 13 years in prison in corruption case

:snip:

Huizar and two of his associates previously pleaded guilty to charges related to a $500,000 bribery from David Lee, a Southern California real estate developer. He also pleaded guilty to tax evasion and organized crime charges last January.

The former council member agreed to serve at least nine years in prison. Walter said the 13-year sentence was necessary to “engender respect” for the country’s anti-corruption laws.

Lee planned a major commercial and residential development in downtown Los Angeles. But when the project was halted in the city approval process, he reached out to Huizar, the Department of Justice said.

Huizar was the local member for the project and the head of the city’s planning board. He asked for a cash bribe, which Lee delivered.

He was ordered to pay nearly $444,000 in restitution to the city and $39,000 to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the LA Times reported. Huizar is also required to surrender to federal authorities on Apr. 30, per the filing.

Federal prosecutors in the case argued that Huizar monetized his position in the government and had secured more than $1.5 million in cash bribes, gambling chips, luxury hotel visits, political contributions, prostitute services, expensive meals and more from developers who had projects in the downtown L.A. district he oversaw.

Pro-BLM former Baltimore prosecutor Marilyn Mosby found guilty of mortgage fraud

On Tuesday, a federal jury found former Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby guilty of one count of mortgage fraud and not guilty on a second count.

According to the Baltimore Sun, the verdict comes around three months after another federal jury convicted Mosby of perjury in November. In that case, Mosby claimed that she had suffered hardship due to the Covid pandemic, allowing her to withdraw $80,000 from her city retirement fund.

That money was used to close on two properties in Florida worth around $1 million combined. One was an eight-bedroom house near Disney World, while the other was a beachfront condo on the Gulf Coast.:snip:

Eric Swalwell Spent Campaign Money at Super Bowl, $50K on NFL 'Event Tickets'

California Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell, known for using his campaign war chest as a "personal piggy bank," according to watchdog group American Accountability Foundation, spent campaign funds at the Super Bowl and paid $50,000 to NFL teams for "event tickets," records show.

Swalwell, a San Francisco 49ers superfan, attended the big game in Las Vegas with his wife on Feb. 11, where his beloved team lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. "Not the outcome we wanted," Swalwell said in a social media post from the game.

Swalwell’s attendance raises questions about how a congressman known for facing financial struggles was able to afford tickets that cost at least $10,000 apiece. It could also fuel complaints that Swalwell has used campaign money to fund an elaborate lifestyle. In 2021, a conservative watchdog group accused Swalwell of illegally using campaign funds for personal expenses, citing $20,000 in payments for luxury hotel stays. In December, Swalwell’s campaign paid $1,700 for his stay at the Burj al Arab, a five-star hotel in Dubai.:snip:

Businessman Accused of Bribing Bob Menendez Flips on Senator in Plea Deal

A New Jersey businessman charged along with Sen. Bob Menendez (D., N.J.) on Friday pleaded guilty in Manhattan federal court to attempting to bribe the lawmaker, agreeing to cooperate with prosecutors in the case.

Jose Uribe, who prosecutors alleged gave Menendez's wife, Nadine, a luxury car, entered the plea to seven charges, including conspiracy to commit bribery, honest services wire fraud, and tax evasion, the Associated Press reported.

Uribe is one of multiple businessmen who prosecutors have alleged were part of a bribery scheme to give Bob and Nadine Menendez money, gold bars, and a diamond ring in addition to the car, in exchange for using Menendez's influence to help them. Since the fall, in addition to the bribery charges, prosecutors have accused Menendez of acting as an unregistered foreign agent on behalf of the Egyptian government and helping a businessman seek a Qatari investment.:snip:
