PARIS — Masked gunmen stormed the offices of a French satirical newspaper Wednesday, killing 11 people before escaping, police and a witness said. The weekly has previously drawn condemnation from Muslims.

A witness to the attack, Benoit Bringer, told the iTele network he saw multiple masked men armed with automatic weapons at the newspaper's office in central Paris.

Charlie Hebdo's offices were firebombed in 2011 after a spoof issue featuring a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad on its cover. Nearly a year later, the publication again published crude Muhammad caricatures, drawing denunciations around the Muslim world.

It is now being reported the gunmen were shouting : God is Great! ETC ETC

As I said on the Coffee Shop at least a dozen other terrorist attacks had been thwarted in Paris just in the last few weeks

Now 12 dead.

At some point (and I suspect soon) Europe is going to..take action. There are already large protests in Germany over the Islamization of Germany.

I am referring here to the religious clerics. We have to think hard about what we are facingand I have, in fact, addressed this topic a couple of times before. Its inconceivable that the thinking that we hold most sacred should cause the entire umma [islamic world] to be a source of anxiety, danger, killing and destruction for the rest of the world. Impossible!

That thinkingI am not saying religion but thinkingthat corpus of texts and ideas that we have sacralized over the years, to the point that departing from them has become almost impossible, is antagonizing the entire world. Its antagonizing the entire world!

Is it possible that 1.6 billion people [Muslims] should want to kill the rest of the worlds inhabitantsthat is 7 billionso that they themselves may live? Impossible!

I am saying these words here at Al Azhar, before this assembly of scholars and ulemaAllah Almighty be witness to your truth on Judgment Day concerning that which Im talking about now.

All this that I am telling you, you cannot feel it if you remain trapped within this mindset. You need to step outside of yourselves to be able to observe it and reflect on it from a more enlightened perspective.

I say and repeat again that we are in need of a religious revolution. You, imams, are responsible before Allah. The entire world, I say it again, the entire world is waiting for your next move . . . because this umma is being torn, it is being destroyed, it is being lostand it is being lost by our own hands.

Political Correctness is killing us all.

"Until the West starts holding Islam accountable this will continue."

We went to France the beginning of '96 and left just before the Millennium. We became very aware of terrorism while living there. We lived in a the cleanest, most well protected living museum in the world - Central Paris. CRS (and you DO NOT mess with them) on every corner with their BIG guns. We were constantly warned to watch for seemingly harmless paper bags on metros and buses. (A couple on their honeymoon were blown up riding the metro and having one of those little bags under their seat. while we there. A trash can a couple blocks from our apt. by the Italian newsstand was blown up just before we arrived with shrapnel going every where. Consequently trash cans were welded shut.. There were 2 bombings on the St. Michel metro line. We were profiled like crazy at the airport and any unattended luggage was detonated on the spot. Actually happened on the baggage belt as we arrived.

the economy was in the tank. Socialism was failing. Immigration -- mostly from N. Africa area and Muslim - was a HUGE ISSUE. Journalists were writing about "Paris being a powder keg waiting to explode"

Edited to add that France, Spain and Germany were being touted as the next Islamic kingdoms/states. There are horrible problems in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

So we come home and find America asleep.

Today 14 years later -- well you know the rest of the story.

Oh and one more thing -- if a French person spoke out against immigration etc etc he was branded as a bigot, prejudiced ignoramus who hated. Often called a fascist. Sound familiar???

p.s. Valin, your video on moral equivalence has been removed "by the user" so I did not see it.

She was saying if a cartoon that made fun of Mary or Jesus was published Christians would be angry, just like Muslims are about the Mohammad cartoon.

Of course this is correct as we can see from the works of the Assembly Of God Fighting Front...and those Baptists...well what can you say.

1:35 pm Horror: Cartoonist tells of moment gunmen threatened him and his daughter outside office

A cartoonist for Charlie Hebdo magazine who was dropping his child at a nursery has told of his horror as the gunmen launched their attack.

Corinne Rey told a French newspaper: "I had gone to get my daughter at nursery.

"When I arrived in front of the door of the building of the paper, two men hooded and armed brutally threatened us.

"They wanted to come in, go up. I pressed in the code.

"They shot on Wolinski, Cabu... it lasted 5 minutes... I had hidden
under my desk... they spoke French perfectly... they said they we're Al-Qaida."

The imam of the nearby Drancy mosque, Hassen Chalghoumi, is at the site.

He said: "It is necessary that the Republic is firm dealing with people who want to commit acts of terror.

"The shooters hit our freedom and our values. One can disagree with a drawing but you respond with a drawing, not through violence."

At least 12 dead in Paris after attack on satirical newspaper

Nicholas Vinocur and Antony Paone

PARIS Wed Jan 7, 2015 9:39am EST

(Reuters) - Hooded gunmen stormed the Paris offices of a weekly satirical magazine known for lampooning radical Islam, killing at least 12 people, including two police officers in the worst militant attack on French soil in recent decades.

One of the men was captured on video shouting "Allah!" as four shots rang out. Two assailants were then seen calmly leaving the scene.

A police union official said the assailants remained at liberty and there were fears of further attacks.

Well Duh @Valin I get angry (as do most Christians to come extent) when blasphemous statements, graphics, TV, movies, press are made... and when Christians are labeled in unsavory terms. Lately I've been a little slow in breaking out the beheading knife, AK 47 or the suicide vest.

However I have no idea what you're talking about with the "Assembly of God Fighting Front... and those Baptists"?????

Did Charlie Hebdo attack finally go too far for violent Islamists’ apologists?
posted at 10:01 am on January 7, 2015 by *Noah Rothman

They finally went too far for the apologists. Not even militant Islam’s sympathizers, who are too often willing to absolve violent Islamists of acts which they would never condone in anyone else, appear to see any rationale for the brutal attack on a Parisian satirical magazine. The bloody terrorist attack left 12 dead, including two police officers and the magazine’s editor-in-chief.

(Snip)

While some of the publication’s provocative cover art is often sexually suggestive, most of the cartoons that have set the world on fire and inspired bloodshed are relatively tame. “Love is stronger than hate,” read the caption on one cartoon in which Mohammed is depicted kissing a male cartoonist. “100 lashes if you don’t die of laughter,” said the paper’s false EIC, the Prophet Mohammed, on a cover. Charlie Hebdo’s editor died for these offenses against Islamist propriety.

Yes, the terrorist have gone too far today, but some felt that the earlier violence against Hebdo was perfectly justified.

“[N]ot only are such Islamophobic antics futile and childish, but they also openly beg for the very violent responses from extremists their authors claim to proudly defy in the name of common good,” read a 2011 column from Time Magazine’s Paris bureau chief, Bruce Crumley.

That’s right. According to one of their colleagues in the business of print, the magazine was just asking for violence with their taunts.

I just can't wait to hear The Zero's full statement on this....

I am "Deeply Troubled" by this incident of workplace violence in France. I strongly condemn the action and emphisis that this is just another example of gun violence that must be stopped by tighter gun control laws.

I will state again that we do not approve of incendiary cartoons insulting the great world religion of Islam.

We will work to understand what led up to this event but do not want to jump to conclusions. This case is not clear cut like the improper racial profiling by Sgt. James Crowley in Boston... the killings up unarmed black children in Florida and Missouri.... or the heinous film that caused that unfortunate event in Benghazi.

Now I must leave and head back to the putting green.

I actually heard him on Fox. Got so mad blood was coming out of my eyeballs.

Bill Hemmer pressed him on it and he said virtually the same thing he said on CNN.

Paris Islamic Terror Attack Leaves 12 Dead because Allah is the Worst

By: Wordsmith

12 murdered by Islamic terrorists to “avenge the Prophet Mohammed” in a late morning attack on the office of Charlie Hebdo.

Scissors-32x32.png

The 3 Islamic gunmen and those who support them haven’t “avenged” Mohammed. They’ve only stirred a hornet’s nest of defiance. Expect more “Danish” cartoons. Expect more “eff U’s” at Mohammed and Islam (true “religion of peace” practitioners of Islam will be able to weather the criticism and insults; if they cannot, then they are not practicing a religion of peace and tolerance). It’s okay to be offended; it’s not okay to react with violence.

Your Allah is not the greatest. He is the worst.

And for those who ask “Where are the moderates?”, “Why aren’t they condemning the attacks?”, well unless you only have selective hearing, they are doing just that right now.

Wordsmith draws Mohammed:

The Future Should Belong To Those Who Can Slander The Prophet of Islam

Radical Islam doesn't like being mocked. Funny how we don’t have to worry about our lives after mocking the Pope, isn’t it?

By David Harsanyi JANUARY 7, 2015

On September 9, 2012, Egyptian demonstrators in Cairo scaled the walls of the U.S. Embassy and pulled down the American flag, threatening the lives of those inside to protest a film they claimed was insulting to the prophet Mohammad. Reacting to this attack on our sovereignty and the lives of our citizens, the administration acted in the most un-American way imaginable, sending out this preposterous message:

The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims — as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Scissors-32x32.png

Funny how we don’t have to worry about our lives after mocking the Pope, though, isn’t it?
