The supermagnet Theory:

A huge electro-magnet will be placed above the geographical center of the Continental United States. One day, the switch is thrown, and ALL of America's handguns are collected for proper disposal. Until this magnet is constructed, no effort at gun control should be attempted. There are some concerns over replacement hips, tricycles, and other magnetic objects.

Only crazy people harm and kill others, let's outlaw crazy people.

Why do we assume he was crazy? Some people are just bad people.

What We Know About Alleged CT School Shooter Adam Lanza

After a whole lot of confusion, the NY Post, NY Times and other news outlets have now identified Adam Lanza as the suspect in the tragic shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut this morning. Altogether, at least 27 people were killed, including 20 children, when the 20-year-old Lanza allegedly walked into the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown and opened fire.

NBC initially reported that a Ryan Lanza killed his father in Hoboken NJ this morning, then drove to Connecticut to Sandy Hook Elementary School, where his mother Nancy is a kindergarten teacher. It would be an understatement to say that there have been several conflicting reports about this timeline though: some reported that a body was found in a family home at 36 Yogananda Street in Newtown. CNN reported that Lanza's younger brother was found dead in Hoboken; a previous AP report claimed the younger brother was being held for questioning. That has since been amended to read that the 24-year-old Ryan Lanza, the older brother, is being questioned, but is not considered a suspect.

It is now believed that the younger Adam Lanza may have been carrying his older brother's ID, which would explain the confusion; former Jersey Journal staff writer Brett Wilshe said he has spoken with Ryan Lanza, who told Wilshe the shooter may have had his identification. Ryan Lanza is being questioned by police; you can see a screenshot from CBS of what is believed to be him below:

Rick Leventhal is saying that he shot his mother this morning and then went to the school to shoot 26 more people.

The father is still alive. The brother is talking to authorities.

My heart breaks for Ryan Laza as well. He lost his entire family and then was falsely accused by the press. Sometimes I hate the rush to name the people involved. My prayers for him as well.

Oh yes, of course,

My opinion of their never letting a crisis go to waste.....and why they will use the bodies of the dead to make their points:

The Sacrifices of the Religion of Liberalism

http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/21859

Why is it that leftist regimes always demand the same type of illogical and damned-to-fail policies? Most people see socialist programs as “goal oriented” in terms of outcomes, and of course this is how they are sold to the public. But, at a deeper level and given their ill-fated nature, there must be a unifying theme connecting all the different leftist plans. In fact, what is proposed here is a schemata tying together all the socialist, Marxist and leftist notions.

Scissors-32x32.png

The fact is policy outcomes are not nearly as important as the sacrificial religious element found within. In brief, neo-liberalism is a humanistic religion, with its chief ideas stolen from Christianity, which encourages its adherents to see themselves as a small band of self-proclaimed geniuses. It instructs its immodest adherents to look down on non-leftists, and do anything possible to force the blinded masses into a liberal paradise on earth. This is essentially Barack Obama’s world view.

Scissors-32x32.png

There is no doubt what is now called socialism or Marxism takes its elan, its joi de vivre, its essential life force, not from humanism, but from stock biblical themes. Some will understandably ask – How is this possible when all mature leftist regimes seek the conversion or demise of Jewish and Christian sects? The answer is the antagonism is caused not by disbelief, but results from envy. Such familial jealousy disputes the right to hold ground usually assumed by the church. In other words, Marxism and socialism seek to supplant true religious movements with a zombified doppelganger, or a malignant, evil-minded twin.

As such, modern neo-liberalism has been erected as a massive religious forgery, a titanic heretic cult.

Scissors-32x32.png

In analyzing modern liberalism, we must begin with the preliminary premise that leftists see the secular state as not only godlike, but literally assuming all authority previously held by any religion. To point out the obvious, the assumed power and authority of the modern liberal state create a dangerous, pseudo-religious heresy. As a blind, humanistic replacement for traditional Christianity, modern liberalism has revealed itself as a murderous fraud that brooks no opposition, allows no human rights, and accepts no deviation from its manipulative and simplistic creed.

Specifically, neo-liberalism stands for certain propositions about the nature of reality. The claims: First, there is no God. Second, humans evolved and are therefore on our own and so we must create our own standards. Third, there is no soul, or attendant human nature. Fourth, since there is no God, no afterlife exists, and therefore all reward and punishment occur on earth. Fifth, it is the job of the small number of elites to create paradise and then drive the dull-minded masses into this earthly heaven. Any means of doing this are perfectly acceptable. Sixth, all warfare and weaponry is wrong. The only excuse for such is to defend socialist states, or to force other countries to accept reality – that the only moral government is collectivist. Sixth, all we can measure life by is the holding of material wealth, since no other humanistic standard exists. Seventh, the real work of mankind is building a human paradise that will protect all people, even via theft, fraud, propaganda, or at the end of a gun. The stakes are too high to accept any compromise on this last point.

Latest report indicates that he exhibited "odd" behavior.

4:52 p.m: Neighbors described Adam Lanza to ABC as “odd” and displaying characteristics associated with mental illness.

That can describe a lot of people at no particular times.

If this young man is shown to be autistic and have a personality disorder, we need to seriously review how we are serving the mentally ill in this country. We may have meant well in the 60s and 70s when we determined that mental institutions were not humane. But I'm not sure the current solution is either.

@pollyannaish, not that the family necessarily had money to pay for his care, but aren't families supposed to pull together and try to ensure that those who need attention get it?

Even if the resources came via Medicaid, wouldn't a family member try to get help for a son or brother?

@saveliberty

I have a special needs brother and my mother was a mental health therapist all her life. My step mother was a teacher for profoundly disabled high school students.

If you have a severely disabled child, there are definitely services, but it is the borderline cases where it is complex. These are people who have the skills and ability to perform simple tasks or in some cases are very intelligent but functionally inhibited and are prone to rage when confronted with certain conditions. By the age of twenty four, the individual has a right to their own person, no matter what the dysfunction is. That essentially means they have to request the help themselves. Often their mental illness precludes that. In addition, there is often a bureaucratic system in place that is easy to work if you are working the system, but enormously difficult for the mentally ill to navigate.

It took us forty years to get my brother the help he needed. Those 40 years were not without collateral damage to others and that happened only because he had a very engaged family. When that child becomes an adult the options open to the family lessen considerably and they have less ability to do what needs to be done.

My suspicion is that the family was desperately trying to get help, but because he was an adult it was very slow going.

Believe me, there are no simple solutions, but the laws we've created for ourselves tend to favor the decisions of those needing the help, not those that see the time bomb ticking.

May the Lord be swift to welcome those who were killed into His Heavenly Kingdom and may He provide healing to the families and friends.

May the Lord grant forgiveness to the shooter and healing and mercy to the shooter's family.

Coming Together

Botticelli_Alessandro-The_Temptation_of_Christ-620x376.jpg

By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | December 14th, 2012 at 04:37 PM

At times like this we are told we must “come together.”

When you think about, we don’t, as a nation, come together much any more except in tragedy.

We used to come together as a nation during the Olympics, when we rooted for Americans. But in recent years we are too often lectured about the jingoism in rooting for America.

We used to come together as we sent men and women in to space, but we can’t much afford to do that any more and we don’t.

When we come together for most sporting events, we find ourselves divided among friends among teams.

We come together as a nation every four years to inaugurate the President, but it is as bitter and divisive as every.

About the only time we ever come together as a nation anymore is when savage tragedy happens. When men fly planes into tall buildings or gun down children or shoot up a movie theater, we gather, pray, and cry.

It is not healthy for a nation that its only acts of coming together are acts of tragedy, or Scissors-32x32.pnghttp://www.redstate.com/2012/12/14/coming-together/

Obama, silent about union violence in Michigan, immediately reacts to Connecticut school shooting

Predictable as the sunrise. Sayeth the Light Bringer and erstwhile armory to the Mexican drug cartels:

As a country, we have been through this too many times. Whether it is an elementary school in Newtown, or a shopping mall in Oregon, or a temple in Wisconsin, or a movie theater in Aurora, or a street corner in Chicago, these neighborhoods are our neighborhoods and these children are our children. And we’re going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics.

Yes. And we can begin “c0ming together” by stoking race hatred, engaging in class warfare, and terming our political opponent our enemies, or “teabaggers,” or mental defectives — then use every last tragedy, be it the shooting of Gabby Giffords or the Aurora theater shooting or the murder suicide of an NFL linebacker or the Oregon mall shooting or today’s shooting at a Connecticut elementary school, as an opportunity restrict a basic human right, the right to defend oneself (a right disallowed, incidentally, by the law-abiding players in many of these tragedies, thanks to gun-free school zones, or gun-free movie theaters, etc.). That is, Scissors-32x32.png
