Four Wisconsin Republican lawmakers challenge recall signatures

MADISON, Wis (Reuters) - Four Wisconsin lawmakers targeted for possible recall later this year filed challenges on Thursday to the validity of thousands of signatures gathered to force the special elections, the state's Government Accountability Board said.

Organizers of the drive to recall the four Republican state senators submitted more than 18,000 pages of signed petitions with the board last month. Thursday was the deadline for the four lawmakers, including Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald, to lodge objections with the board.

In a statement, Fitzgerald cited "a wide range of irregularities, errors and outright falsehoods" in the petitions submitted to force him to defend his seat. He said he planned to challenge 4,300 of the signatures, which could be enough to derail the effort to unseat him.

If the board verifies enough signatures against any of the four senators targeted in this second wave of recalls, it will call a special election that could alter the balance of power in the state Senate, where Republicans hold a 17-16 majority.

Recall petitioners now have five days to rebut the challenges, after which the officeholders will have two days to reply, according to state law.

The Government Accountability Board then has until March 19 to verify the recalls. Until then, the board will review the challenges and continue to review petitions.

Since recall organizers submitted what they said were about 1.9 million total signatures, supporters of the six targeted Republicans have asked volunteers to help comb through the thousands of petition forms posted online.

Who here wasn't shy when they were kids?

Of course I could say some left the shyness behind but held tight to the mental illness part.....but that would be wrong...and very much not the sort of thing a caring sensitive type of person like me would say...so I won't.

To be added along with this?
A study in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry has concluded that distrust of the government is a treatable mental disorder. Known as "AGP" or "anti-government phobia," the study claims: "...that unfounded fear of government is a recognizable mental illness, closely related to paranoid schizophrenia. Anti-Government Phobia (AGP) differs from most mental illnesses, however, in that it is highly infectious and has an acute onset. Symptoms include extreme suspiciousness, conspiracy-mongering, delusional thought patterns, staunch 'us against them' mentality, withdrawal from reality, and often religious fanaticism..."

Dad Shoots Daughter’s Laptop over Facebook Rant!

Scissors-32x32.png

One 15-year-old girl learned a hard lesson, and her outraged father was more than willing to share his disciplinary actions with the world via YouTube.

Tommy Jordan’s daughter used her laptop to post a profanity laden rant on her Facebook wall about her perceived mistreatment at the hand of her parents. She complained about having to do chores and get them coffee, having to lock her doors to keep her little brother out of her room, and having to deal with the parent’s expectation of her to get a job…typical teenage bemoaning, I presume.

Scissors-32x32.png

Here’s where the story takes a comical or disturbing turn depending on your point of view.

Jordan created a Youtube video rebutting his daughter’s allegations of on a case by case basis. He then goes on to remind her that she had been grounded for similar actions in the past. Apparently he was fed up with her rebellion – as he concludes the YouTube video by shooting her laptop 9 times with his .45 caliber pistol in dramatic flair.

He then posted the video to her Facebook wall for all of her friends and their parents to see. The video has gone viral and several mainstream media outlets are weighing in on the issue.

Allow me to translate...We screwed up big time and didn't factor in the fact that people who take their faith seriously, would put down their bibles stop clinging to their guns and open a large can of whup ass on me. And when I saw EJ Dionne and Tingles came out against me knowing this could jeopardize my reelection which is more important than anything I informed the NAGS and the hooray for killing babies crowd they would just have to wait a bit until I get reelected. So you Bible freaks win...for now...but I'll Be Back.

The fire fighter at the end either kicks butt, or is a little crazy.

Oh, blah, blah, blan. I couldn't listen to the whole thing, as usual. Actually, I listened to 3 minutes, which is more than usual. And taking birth control pills increases the chance of having breast cancer, Mr. President.

I'm going with crazy. What part of "You can simply spray your water through all the broken out windows" did he miss? Then again, I'm not a fireman. But he would have been cooked pretty good if the gas tank blew.

Watchdog Group Obtains FOIA Documents Revealing DHS Monitoring Political Dissent Online…

EPIC is pursuing a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security for information about the agency’s surveillance of social networks and news organizations.

In February 2011, the Department of Homeland Security announced that the agency planned to implement a program that would monitor media content, including social media data. The proposed initiatives would gather information from “online forums, blogs, public websites, and messages boards” and disseminate information to “federal, state, local, and foreign government and private sector partners.” The program would be executed, in part, by individuals who established fictitious usernames and passwords to create covert social media profiles to spy on other users. The agency stated it would store personal information for up to five years. [...]Scissors-32x32.png

Navy Secretary Mabus announces USS Gabrielle Giffords

Good grief. We've got young men and women all over the globe who have volunteered to step in harms way and have been killed in the process. Giffords takes a round from a nutjob at a rally, and we're going to name a ship for her? That is an insult.

It is stupid. Here is what Mabus says...

“The name this ship bears and the story represented by that name will inspire all those who come in contact with her,” said Navy Secretary Ray Mabus at a naming ceremony at the Pentagon Friday.

The ship named after Giffords is a littoral combat ship, a smaller ship designed for operations close to the shore. The USS Gabrielle Giffords is the Navy’s 10th LCS ship.

Mabus said the ship would stay in the Navy fleet for three decades.

“It’s very appropriate that the LCS-10 be named for someone who has become synonymous with courage, who has inspired the nation with remarkable resiliency,” Mabus said.

This picture sort of reminds me of the politician apologizing for infidelity with his wife standing by his side.

I didn't watch it either, did Sebelius get to talk? Or did he just have her standing there so everyone would know who caused the problem. Or someone he could blame for it.
