The identity of the nine-year-old tragically killed in Saturday morning’s shooting rampage in Tucson, Arizona is Christina Taylor Greene.

Greene is one of six killed in front of a Safeway grocery store while awaiting to talk to Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords who had set up a townhall-style meet and greet event. Five people died at the scene. Greene died at a local hospital.

Greene’s family says she was vibrant, excited about life, and she was the “best daughter in the world.”

Born September 11, 2001, Greene was excited about the political process, was on the student government, and went to the Giffords event Saturday to learn more about the political process, family members say.snip

My God what a tragedy. What a beautiful young girl and what an astonishingly tied to violence life she had.

May God comfort her family and may they find peace.

Unfortunately this subhuman has no conscience. I certainly hope that the Federal Govt will ask for the death penalty. But with the current crowd I wouldn't bet on it.

Authorities Search for Second Man in Deadly Arizona Shooting Spree

Authorities said they are not convinced one person was behind a shooting rampage at a town hall-style event Saturday in Tucson, Ariz., that left six dead, including a federal judge, and critically wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who police said was the target of the attack.

Sheriff Clarence Dupnik, from the Pima County Sheriff's Department, said in a statement that a second person was seen at the location of the shooting, and was possibly associated with the suspect in custody. The person was described as a Caucasian male with dark hair, approximately 40-50 years old, who was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark blue jacket.snip

Hot Air/Greenroom: The Fog of News

Steven Den Beste

January 8, 2011 10:43 pm

(Snip)

This post isn’t about what happened, or why. It’s about how it was reported. There was a while in there, the first couple of hours, where all we knew was that something really bad had happened. Then NPR started running news updates with more solid information. When everyone else was just reporting that there had been a shooting, NPR came through with the news that 7 people, including Representative Giffords, had been killed.

(Snip)

NPR’s report reminds me of the news reporting from New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina. It seems that in this day and age some reporters think it’s more important to be first than to be right. (Snip)

NPR’s early reports today were a classic example of journalistic malpractice, and this kind of thing is far more common than journalists like to admit. It’s one of many reasons why I think that it’s more appropriate to refer to journalism as a craft rather than as a profession.

I hope that girls face lives in the nightmares of the shooter for all his days.

shoutRheo -- he doesn't have a normal mind. I'm sure you've heard about/read his weird rantings. He is using words we all know and understand but putting them together in an incomprehensible manner. He makes no sense. He is living in some kind of alternative world. He may have nightmares but they won't be about that precious little girl. Which is not to say I am sympathetic or defending him in any way!

You should see FB. I have a lot of liberal friends and half of them are lit up about this. The other half are urging caution. It's very sad.

One of my long-time friends on FB commented on this yesterday with a gratuitous blame Rush-Beck-Sarah-Palin-Tea-Party comment, and I just tore him a new one. This kind of "thinking" is has gone way too far, and is dangerous and destructive (not to mention just flat wrong to demonize one group just to justify your own philosophy). I may lose at least one friend over this, but I'm not going to be quiet just to keep the peace any more.

And, if and when I get called on stuff and have to back up what I say or apologize, I'll do the right thing. Of course, I try to make sure I have my facts straight BEFORE I say something.

I did exactly the same thing Sanguine. I am very careful to not get into political discussions on FB usually, but to blame this on Palin and tea partiers, foaming at the mouth and screeching is one of the most unhinged things I've seen this side of the guy who actually did it!

Geee!

snipWe are not sure WHY this happened yet-but if it is indeed political-it only enforces that hate threads or hate websites, whether on the left or right-just have NO place.

Yep. And anyone with an axe to grind will exploit this.

September 20, 2010: Pueblo Politics: Dupnik calls tea party members bigots

"When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government. The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous..."

"And, unfortunately, Arizona I think has become sort of the capital. We have become the Mecca for prejudice and bigotry..."

And the winner of the most bizarre, overwrought, hysterical denunciation of Sarah Palin by a brainless lefty is...

Rick Moran

American Thinker

January 9, 2011

It's not Paul Krugman, although I know he has many fans on the right who were hoping he would win the prize because he fits the "brainless" description so aptly.

This was tea party murder.

We should not shrink from calling it that.
