Pepper
Sabre86! The congresswoman’s father Spencer Gifford, 75, was rushing to the hospital when asked if his 40-year-old daughter had any enemies. "Yeah," he told The Post. "The whole Tea Party." http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/ariz_congresswoman_shot_in_head_YFTvsurRHy5OWGSRKnuK8J

Sabre86
Probably already posted From Undercoverage From Kos posting allegedly by shooter Jared Loughner The post says he worked for her campaign in "2002" which would mean he was only 14 at the time. Kind of says he didn't post this.

Pepper
Geee! We are not sure WHY this happened yet-but if it is indeed political-it only enforces that hate threads or hate websites, whether on the left or right-just have NO place. Yep. And anyone with an axe to grind will exploit this. September 20, 2010: Pueblo Politics: Dupnik calls tea party members bigots
pollyannaish
You should see FB. I have a lot of liberal friends and half of them are lit up about this. The other half are urging caution. It's very sad.

Pepper
It is tragic, this loss of life and who knows the extent of injuries. We'll get knee jerk and heat of the moment political legislation as a result.

Hard to argue with that. Amen to that! I have a lot of 20 and 30-something friends from liberal arts backgrounds. They tend to be quite arrogant and quite vocal. I also have some college friends who, in order to maintain their "youthful" credibility hang on to their liberalism as a "hipster" credential. The kids are great, but extremely emotional about their politics. I've remained friends with many of them in hopes that I can provide some balance to their otherwise one-sided Huffington Post/Daily Kos/John Stewart existence. The oldsters, I have little patience or hope for, most of the time.

We'll get knee jerk and heat of the moment political legislation as a result. That's the saddest part...and again, it is a non-partisan reaction to things like these. We've got to fix it! This kind of tragedy really can't be avoided. Crazy is crazy. And no law is going to change that.

Pepper
pollyannaish! No law can prevent a disturbed mind from harming someone else, but that doesn't the legislators wont try. There will be anti-gun legislation proposed. Then controls on freedom of expression (net, radio, tv). You get the idea. That putz of sheriff might lead the local charge in Az.
