Denver plans to defund it's police to pay for illegal immigrants

The Democratic-run city of Denver, Colorado, plans to defund its police department to pay for illegal immigrants.

Denver, which is commonly referred to as a “sanctuary city,” announced on Wednesday that it will spend $89.9 million on services for incoming illegal migrants, pulling some of the funding from roughly $45 million in public programs and services. Denver’s police department will be hit with an $8.4 million reduction — about 1.9% of its total operating budget, the city confirmed to the Daily Caller News Foundation.:snip:

The deal between the two presidents also allows a huge flow of economic illegal immigrants into the U.S. due to legal pathways which in return increases the parole pipeline and the immediate release of asylum seekers despite federal laws that require their detention until their asylum pleas are settled.

@Geee

What we are seeing in this election cycle is basically 2 different campaigns.

1. The Republican  Party is running on The Economy & The Illegal Immigration crisis (if it is not a Real Crisis its close enough)

2. The Democratic Party is running on Abortion (The GOP wants to turn America into The Handmaids Tale) & Donald Trump is Hitler.

Yes Yes there will certainly be other Issues that come along and many many local issues BUT broadly speaking That is The 2024 Campaign.

Let me also say Post November 5, 2024 no matter who wins it may very well be....Interesting.

Illegal immigrant arrested in crash that killed Democratic senator's adviser

An 18-year-old Honduran man who was arrested in connection to a two-vehicle crash that killed an adviser to Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., earlier this month was in the country illegally, having been detained at the border in 2021 and then let go, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) tells Fox News Digital.

The illegal immigrant, Elmer Rueda-Linares, was involved in the deadly crash that took the life of father-of-one-Kurt Englehart in the early hours of April 6. The collision occurred on Kietzke and Peckham Lanes, about five miles south of Downtown Reno, Nevada.

Rueda-Linares was initially charged with a felony hit-and-run, but that has been changed to failing to stop at the scene of an accident, the Reno Gazaette Joyrbal reported, citing the sheriff’s office. He is being held at Washoe County Jail in Reno on $100,000 bail.

South American gangs target San Diego homes for burglary after flying to US on Visa Waiver Program

San Diego, California is a common destination for travelers, however, a new set of visitors have taken advantage of what investigators say is a  "weak vetting system" to wreak havoc on residents in more affluent neighborhoods.

The phenomenon, which has come to be known as "burglary tourism," involves the obtaining of tourist visas by foreigners, typically members of South American organized crime groups, who then cross the border and steal from American citizens.:snip:

Operation Lone Star officers apprehend more human smugglers

One Mexican national apprehended over 90 times for drug, human, exotic monkey smuggling

Texas Department of Public Safety officers working in Gov. Greg Abbott’s border security mission, Operation Lone Star, continue to apprehend human smugglers at the border.

Smugglers are being apprehended multiple ways, by DPS brush teams and by troopers performing traffic stops and vehicle inspections. Nearly all offenders are military aged men who also seek to evade capture, authorities say.

In Brownsville, a DPS brush team arrested a 17-year-old male smuggling guide who DPS said was responsible for leading several foreign nationals across the Rio Grande River from Mexico to illegally enter Texas between ports of entry. DPS troopers and drone operators found him hiding inside a shed at the border.:snip:

Cost of the migrant crisis: Denver schools tested to their limit

Denver, Colorado, a self-described “sanctuary city,” has cared for more than 41,000 illegal immigrants over the past two years. The new arrivals have drained city resources and led to resentment from locals. The same can be said for other blue cities across the United States. This Washington Examiner series, Cost of the Migrant Crisis, will investigate the strain on cities, schools, and healthcare within Denver in particular. Part Two is about the strain on schools. To read Part One, click here.

DENVER, Colorado —  Eagleton Elementary School in northwest Denver was on the chopping block two years ago, at risk of shutting down due to low enrollment.

The small, one-story brick building tucked into the Villa Park neighborhood had a student population that hovered around the 200-pupil mark, making it an easy pick to top a list of 10 Denver-area public schools slated to close.

Eagleton got a last-minute reprieve and this year saw its enrollment explode — but it has come at a price.

Like so many others in Denver, the school is struggling to accommodate the needs of a wave of migrant children who have shown up in the city and enrolled in its public schools.

Colorado currently sets a base per-pupil funding amount. Then it factors in district size, cost of living, and the number of students living in poverty to determine the actual per-pupil funding amount for each of the 178 school districts in the state.

In a typical year, Denver Public Schools enrolls about 500 students who have just moved to the country. This school year, the district averaged 250 students a week with an estimated cost of $837,000 needed to provide support throughout the school system, Adrienne Endres, the district’s executive director of multilingual education, said.:snip:
