Sabre86
I knew who she was, but wasn't aware that she was married to an astronaut. Her husband, Mark E. Kelly, who is currently scheduled to fly as the commander Space Shuttle Endeavour on STS-134, the last planned shuttle flight. (There is likely to be a STS-135 but its not official yet.) Kelly's twin brother Scott is also an astronaut and is on the International Space Station right now.

Casino67
From the President: SATURDAY, JANUARY 8, 2011 “This morning, in an unspeakable tragedy, a number of Americans were shot in Tuscon, Arizona, at a constituent meeting with Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. And while we are continuing to receive information, we know that some have passed away, and that Representative Giffords is gravely wounded. We do not yet have all the answers. What we do know is that such a senseless and terrible act of violence has no place in a free society. I ask all Americans to join me and Michelle in keeping Representative Giffords, the victims of this tragedy, and their families in our prayers.”

pollyannaish
CGP: The left is already at it This is obviously the fault of the Tea Party and The (Evil Extremest) Right. Twitter posters are already blaming the right and Palin in particular. Sickness on the left. Sheesh. CGP's leftist posters are so unselfaware. What gets me is that these are the people who scream the loudest about not condemning entire groups based on the actions of a few rush out and condemn an entire group based on a single event—before they have any concept of who, what or why. AND in addition to that, they say that Palin, Beck, Rush and others instigated the attack with hate speech...with so little self assessment they don't even hear the things the people on their side are saying. The right has people like this as well. It's embarrassing to anyone who thinks.
