Florida’s tainted vote

floridas-tainted-voteWashington Times:

Florida just can’t seem to count votes properly. After the embarrassing “hanging chad” debacle of the 2000 presidential election, similar games are now being played in the contest between Republican Rep. Allen West and Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy over the 18th Congressional District seat. Mr. Murphy claims 160,328 votes to Mr. West’s 157,872, but the GOP is questioning the integrity of the vote count, particularly in St. Lucie County.

On election night, Mr. West had maintained a district-wide lead of nearly 2,000 votes until the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections inexplicably “recounted” thousands of early ballots, resulting in an awfully convenient 4,400-vote shift in favor of the challenger. Observers on the scene charged incompetence, intimidation and possible fraud on the part of local election officials. Mr. West has asked a judge to impound the ballots and order a recount to set things straight.Scissors-32x32.png

Allen West Recount Shamelessly Exploited by PACs

In the wake of a judge’s denial of Congressman Allen West’s request for an injunction against Palm Beach County’s supervisor of elections to impound ballots and voting machines, several independent political action committees and organizations are shamelessly exploiting West’s current post-election predicament by establishing fundraising campaigns to “Save Allen West.”Scissors-32x32.png

As it stands, the race is in the hands of the Supervisor of Elections of Palm Beach and St.Lucie counties in Florida as they continue to count ballots. Scissors-32x32.png

Surprise: County that ‘defeated’ Allen West had 141.1% turnout, West leads in recount!

Carl in Jerusalem @ Israel Matzav:

You may recall that I reported on Friday that Representative Allen West (R-Fl) has demanded a recount in St. Lucie County, Florida, one of the three counties that is at least partly included in his district.

I'm sure that you'll all be shocked to hear that St.. Lucie County, which voted overwhelmingly for President Hussein Obama, had a turnout of 141.1% on election day. I'm sure you'll be really shocked to hear (no sarcasm in that one) that West is leading the recount.

This is from the first link.

Out of 175,554 registered voters, 247,713 vote cards were cast in St. Lucie County, Florida on Tuesday. Barack Obama won the county.

When faced with the astronomical figures, Gertrude Walker, Supervisor of Elections for St. Lucie County, said she had no idea why turnout was so incredibly high. She was flabbergasted, saying, "We've never seen that here."

Coincidentally (or not), St. Lucie County is also in Allen West's district, where 6,000 votes mysteriously "shifted" from Mr. West to his challenger.

And from the second link, West now leads by 195 votes.

Voting is a fundamental right. Voter fraud should be classified as a capital crime.

@Pepper. The Wisconsin Thread, which is only one of two threads that I ever visit on FR is run by KeeptheRepublic who is now FreetheRepublic. I go there just to see what the Wisconsin people are thinking, but I never post.

GOP firebrand Allen West refuses to concede; Fla. vote count is beyond recount margin

Article by: MATT SEDENSKY , Associated Press Updated: November 10, 2012 - 3:56 PM

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Firebrand Republican Rep. Allen West was defeated by Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy, according to the state's vote count Saturday, but the incumbent won't concede.

The state issued complete but unofficial results showing Murphy with a lead of 2,442 votes, or 50.4 percent. That's beyond the half-percent margin needed to trigger an automatic recount. A handful of overseas and military ballots remain outstanding, but under state law the decision for a recount is based on Saturday's count.

Murphy declared victory early Wednesday morning and has held his lead ever since, even as thousands of absentee and provisional ballots were processed. He issued a statement Saturday saying it was time to put the campaign behind. He called his win a signal that voters were tired of the extremism West represented.

West's campaign insists there are many unanswered questions in the race, mostly centered in St. Lucie County Scissors-32x32.png http://www.startribune.com/politics/national/178437341.html?refer=y

In Florida: Obama Got Over 99% in Broward County Precincts

Friday, November 9, 2012

President Obama must have run the greatest campaign in the history of campaigns (and he's been telling us he did too). First he got over 99% of the vote in places where GOP inspectors were kicked out in Pennsylvania, then he got 100% of the vote in 21 districts in Cleveland. Now he's done it again!

Down in Broward County, Florida, Mr. Obama came away with more votes than he garnered in 2008, a particularly staggering accomplishment considering he received fewer state-wide totals in both Florida and across the country.

How exactly did he accomplish this? Well, in part thanks to Broward County Precincts L024 to L029 (though I'm sure it's all a coincidence that this happened to precincts all in order).

In those precincts combined, all in order, Mr. Obama won over 99% of the vote, defeating Mitt Romney 5,392 to... 54. Golly, how lucky! This especially impressive because in precincts L019-L022 (L023 doesn't exist) Mr. Romney did over 14 times better than in L024-L029, and the precinct after, did 30 times better. FORT PIERCE, Fla. - On the street outside of the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections Office, just over a dozen veterans and other protestors stood, waving "recount" signs and patriotic flags.

Phone calls to Walker went unanswered.

The protesters say they will be back out first thing Tuesday morning, and they will keep protesting until election results are proven to be accurate.

Wow. Just thought I'd take a stroll over to HillBuzz. They really DO think the election was stolen. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since they were convinced that O had stolen the primary from Hillary. I got an Email from Truth the Vote after the election and they want to start work NOW on methods of assuring fair elections starting in 2014. I'm for that. I spent a lot of time posting petition names for them during the Walker Recall. Be glad to do anything for them I can on the computer.

It should be said that something stinks about this. When some precincts reported well in excess of 100% votes.

St. Lucie elections supervisor admits errors

Laurie K. Blandford

November 13, 2012

ST. LUCIE COUNTY — Elections Supervisor Gertrude Walker said Tuesday "mistakes were made" election night "in haste" to upload results from the last three days of early voting, blaming human and technical errors.

"I'm not perfect, neither is my staff," Walker said during a Tuesday evening news conference. "People can make errors."

Out of 94 precincts, the first 40 — mostly in Fort Pierce — weren't counted at all, and the last 54 — mostly in Port St. Lucie — were counted twice, which explains why city votes increased and county votes decreased after the Nov. 11 retabulation of the votes from Nov. 1-3.
