Politico:

During Herman Cain’s tenure as the head of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s, at least two female employees complained to colleagues and senior association officials about inappropriate behavior by Cain, ultimately leaving their jobs at the trade group, multiple sources confirm to POLITICO.

The women complained of sexually suggestive behavior by Cain that made them angry and uncomfortable, the sources said, and they signed agreements with the restaurant group that gave them financial payouts to leave the association. The agreements also included language that bars the women from talking about their departures.

In a series of comments over the past 10 days, Cain and his campaign repeatedly declined to respond directly about whether he ever faced allegations of sexual harassment at the restaurant association. They have also declined to address questions about specific reporting confirming that there were financial settlements in two cases in which women leveled complaints.

POLITICO has confirmed the identities of the two female restaurant association employees who complained about Cain but, for privacy concerns, is not publishing their names.

The liberal shovels have been digging furious and deep. I hate to say it because I like the man, but this will probably ruin his chances..... of getting elected to anything.

This type of thing has always been my concern for Cain or any other non vetted politician. There is always something in 30 years of career that could come up. I'm not sure liberals would be the ones behind it at this point, why not wait until he gets the nomination and then tear him down.

Not such a Cain fan, but I find it incredible how the MSM can manage to dig up dirt on any given Republican but actually helps any Democrat cover up the past. Liberals are the ones behind it, it is a Politico, but Romney could've leaked it. Doesn't matter, they could have killed it like they did for Obama and Larry Sinclair.

Its total trumped-up BS. Read the article for the actual 'harassment'. Ridiculous BS. Its Clarence Thomas all over again. If this is all there is, I predict that it won't stick.

Funny how when the LIBS pull the old "over-sexed-black-man-on-the-lookout-for-white-women" card, you can hear the crickets chirping from the PC left. [Disclaimer - I have no info as to the race of the alleged harassees...]

Cain details gesture that led to sex accusation. //<<<<from the Washington Examiner.//

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain for the first time has offered a detailed recollection of what led an employee of the National Restaurant Association to lodge a sexual harassment charge against him when he was CEO of the organization.

Cain spoke in response to detailed questioning from Fox News' Greta van Susteren, who led Cain through the facts of the case in an extended interview. That interview was taped to be shown on Fox Monday night.

Cain told van Susteren that he remembered one woman who was a writer in the Association's communications department. "I can't even remember her name, but I do remember the formal allegation she made in terms of sexual harassment," Cain said. "I turned it over to my general counsel and one of the ladies that worked for me, the woman in charge of human resources. They did investigate…and it was found to be baseless."

Van Susteren asked Cain how often he saw the woman. "I might see her in the office because her office was on the same floor as my office," Cain said. Van Susteren asked whether the woman traveled with Cain, who spent a lot of time on the road speaking to restaurant associations around the country. "No, never," Cain said.

Big Journalism: Politico’s Jonathan Martin Won’t Divulge Details Of Cain Story

Dana Loesch

JONATHAN MARTIN: We-, we-, well we have to be careful about that obviously, because we’re sensitive to –

GEIST: Of course –

MARTIN: — the sourcing involved here. And also, what actually happened to these women as well–we want to be sensitive to that, too. It includes both verbal and physical gestures. These women felt uncomfortable, they were unhappy about their treatment, and they complained to both colleagues and senior officials. In one case it involved, I think, inviting a woman up to a hotel room of Cain’s on the road. Um, but, we-, we-, we’re just not going to get into the details of exactly what happened with these women beside what’s in the story.

There were also descriptions of physical gestures that were not overtly sexual

Big Journalism has broken a video of the gesture

I can't tell you how shocked...yes SHOCKED that Herman Cain would dress up as an imperial stromtrooper!

The lynching given to Bork and Thomas was mild compared to what Cain will see.

He'll be Borked X 10..

I suspect the Romney camp as the source

Points out the problem with "settling" an accusation when there is no guilt. Now it comes back to haunt him because in the minds of most people, if he wasn't guilty he wouldn't have given her a settlement.

Guess he never figgr'd on running for poooblik office.

While I like Cain... I have not been impressed with how he and the team that he's built have handled the recent bumps in the road. The overall team does not seem ready for prime time.

As clearvision says, the media process for a Republican candidate is different from the media process for a Democrat candidate.

Edited to change Democratic to Democrat. <_<

IMO, if Cain was a Dem candidate we would be crucifying him for his ineptitude. One can't just 'wing it' when running for the number one office in the country.

Don't you remember all the deep probing questions Barack Obama received in 2007-08? And need I mention John Kerry (who served in Viet Nam)...Bill Clinton...and how the NY Times broke so many stories of his...infidelity's?

Neither do I

I would think dems would wait until he was the nominee to use this stuff.

I am afraid this is just a fore taste of what is coming in the general election...no matter who the Republican nominee is. By the time this is over we are all going to need a shower.

Cain Adviser Accuses Perry Campaign of Leaking Harassment Story, Demands Apology

Jonathan Karl

Nov 2, 2011 7:05pm

The Cain story just took another bizarre turn.

Cain’s chief of staff, Mark Block, just went on Fox News demanding that Rick Perry apologize to Herman Cain, to the Cain family “and to America” for leaking the harassment story to Politico.

“Rick Perry and his campaign owe Herman Cain and his family an apology,” Block said. “Quite frankly, this is one of the actions in America that is the reason people don’t get into politics.”

His evidence that Perry was behind the story? Curtis Anderson, who went to work for the Perry campaign two weeks ago, also worked on Cain’s unsuccessful 2004 Senate campaign. Block said that Anderson is the person on that campaign who he confided in about these accusations from his days at the National Restaurant Association.

Ergo, Block says, it must have been Anderson who leaked the story to Politico, which said it first learned of the accusations about two weeks ago.

Perry communications director Ray Sullivan offered a swift response.

“No one with this campaign was involved with this story. Period,” Sullivan told ABC News, adding, “When people get their backs against the wall, they make some wild accusations.”

IF this is true the Perry campaign is dead dead dead.

Cain HATES Perry with a passion and figures if he is going to go down, he'll take Perry with him, truth be damned.

I have no doubt that Cain has never intended to win or accept the nomination. I think he is nothing but a blocker for Romney, which is why he only goes after Perry.

Interesting. Could you expand? Thanks.
