righteousmomma
I have bought and have read everything C.S. Lewis wrote that has been published. I actually started my kids reading him way back in Middle and High School. Glad to know Nickydog and Valin appreciate him too. I first bought the set that contained Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, The Problem of Pain, The Abolition of Man, The Great Divorce and Miracles back way back in 1978. This was 4 years after really accepting Christ as Lord and Savior. Then I read Surprised by Joy and others before starting my kids on the Chronicles of Narnia which daughter liked best but son later liked best the 4 space type fiction books.. May have to reread him - except for the ones you both mentioned and the Chronicles of Narnia. Daughter took my copies (really hers as a gift) for her children. Can Hillary be seen dating a divorced woman? Do you hold the door for both of them....or neither?

Valin
WSJ: Emails undercut the official IRS story on political targeting. 9/11/13 Congress's investigation into the IRS targeting of conservatives has been continuing out of the Syria headlines, and it's turning up news. Emails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee between former Director of Exempt Organizations Lois Lerner and her staff raise doubts about IRS claims that the targeting wasn't politically motivated and that low-level employees in Cincinnati masterminded the operation. In a February 2011 email, Ms. Lerner advised her staffincluding then Exempt Organizations Technical Manager Michael Seto and then Rulings and Agreements director Holly Pazthat a Tea Party matter is "very dangerous," and is something "Counsel and [Lerner adviser] Judy Kindell need to be in on." Ms. Lerner adds, "Cincy should probably NOT have these cases." That's a different tune than the IRS sang in May when former IRS Commissioner Steven Miller said the agency's overzealous enforcement was the work of two "rogue" employees in Cincinnati. When the story broke, Ms. Lerner suggested that her office had been unaware of the pattern of targeting until she read about it in the newspaper. "So it was pretty much we started seeing information in the press that raised questions for us, and we went back and took a look," she said in May. All casualties are Afghans. As with all stories, early reports may not be totally factual. Still developing.

Rheo
Not sure if this was posted, but it is good. September 10, 2001, First Officer Steve Scheibner packed his suitcase and waited for the phone call finalizing his assignment to fly American Airlines Flight 11, from Boston to Los Angeles. The call never came. In My Seat recounts the events leading up to Flight 11 and the subsequent death of Tom McGuinness in the seat that should have been filled by Steve Scheibner.

He's put people in place who know clearly what he wants done.... and are there to make it happen. ... and take the fall if worse comes to worse. Casino67
Agree, but the Chicago mobsters and the Mafioso had character. Do the slimes in this administration have the kind of backbone needed to 'take one for the boss' if necessary? I don't think Obama has the number of people necessary to protect him. Maybe Valerie or Rice, but he hasn't engendered love among his folks, and probably no one really fears him. Just like the Clinton's, he will use them up and throw them out. There are rats in the WH and they will talk. And talk, and talk.........Even Lois wants to talk, but she is protecting herself, not Obama. She will break and lead the way for other talkers. I hope. They blinked & ValJar had them retired......although now that they're both going to be on MSLSD.....they can get the right left message out for Obamunism, and work their way back to the inner sanctum of the circus tent. Valin
Is the FBI Investigating the IRS Scandal?Eliana JohnsonSeptember 13, 2013House Oversight Committee chairman Darrell Issa and subcommittee chairman Jim Jordan want to know just how seriously the FBI is investigating potential violations of the law perpetrated by IRS agents involved in the agency’s targeting of tea-party groups. In a letter to newly confirmed FBI director James Comey, Issa and Jordan requested all documents and communications relating to the IRS’s evaluation of applicants for tax-exempt status as well as a briefing on the FBI’s own inquiries into two conservative groups, the King Street Patriots and True the Vote. They may not get much. Gene Kapp, a spokesman for the American Center for Law and Justice, which represents 41 tea-party groups targeted by the IRS, tells National Review Online that the ACLJ has had “no contact from the FBI or any other investigative agency.” Likewise, Cleta Mitchell, an attorney for six tea-party groups targeted by the IRS, says that neither she nor any of the groups she represents have heard from the FBI since news of the scandal broke.Days after embattled IRS official Lois Lerner disclosed the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups in mid-May, attorney general Eric Holder told CNN that the FBI would launch an investigation into the agency’s targeting of tea-party groups. “The FBI is coordinating with the Justice Department to see if any laws were broken in connection with those matters related to the IRS,” Holder said. “Those were, as I think everyone can agree, if not criminal they were certainly outrageous and unacceptable.”(Snip) What A Shock! Valin
World War II veteran takes ride in same B-25 bomber decades later September 14, 2013 Marvin Russell, a Missouri World War II veteran, flew in a restored B-25 bomber Thursday, decades after he participated in missions in the same aircraft. (KY3.com) A Missouri World War II veteran who flew 18 missions in B-25 bombers was recently given the opportunity to take off on his 19th flight in the vintage aircraft -- this time as a passenger. Marvin "Rusty" Russell, a former tail gunner in the US Army Air Forces, flew aboard a restored B-25 for the first time in nearly 70 years Thursday at Springfield-Branson National Airport, KY3.com reported. (Snip) "It was so much smaller back there than what I remembered. I laid it to blame on age that it's hard to get around in there," Russell told the station.
