A sweeping bill to overhaul states' voting laws and bring them under federal control has been passed by the House, and is now on its way to the Senate, where Majority Leader Chuck Schumer will attempt to bypass the Republicans' filibuster. On Thursday, the package passed the House of Representatives along party lines by a vote of 220 to 203.

As The Daily Mail reports, the Freedom to Vote Act and John Lewis Voting Rights bill were snuck into an unrelated NASA bill and passed by the House. Both of these seek to strip states' independence to control their own laws as concerns voting and would prohibit any state from passing a law that required voters to verify their identity before casting a ballot.

Sen. Schumer's plan is to have the bill sent to the Senate as a "message," which will allow him to skip the 60-vote threshold needed to start the debate on the voting rights material. This bills come as dozens of states have passed their own voting integrity laws, many of which increase early voting.

Blackburn: Democrats deploying ‘legislative trickery’ to push through voting bill

The Democrats aim to eliminate the filibuster as the new voting bill reaches the Senate and Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., told "Sunday Morning Futures" that it’s all a part of their greater plan to be in power.

BLACKBURN: Bear in mind, they're trying to eliminate the filibuster to push forward their radical agenda, the socialist takeover. But they used the filibuster this week to block a vote on Ted Cruz's Nord Stream 2 sanction bill. So very hypocritical. But once again, they are going to try to do away with the filibuster to blow up the Senate, so they can blow up the courts, so they can blow up our form of government. Manchin and Sinema have said in no way shape or form are they going to do that.

So, then they'll try to use some legislative trickery to move forward their election takeover bill, which would institutionalize ballot harvesting, mail-in ballots. It would get rid of voter ID and signature match. They know that these radical policies are the only way that they can win, so they're willing to strip people of some of their rights, strip our states of their constitutional authority in order to get the power they want. :snip:

Heritage Foundation scholar breaks down 'absurd' federalization of elections in Democrats' bill

Hans von Sparkovsky called some of the regulations in the bill 'absurd'

Former Justice Department attorney Hans von Spakovsky joined "Life, Liberty & Levin" for an interview airing Sunday in which he broke down what he considered the most alarming changes to election laws that come to be if Democrats are able to pass Rep. Terri Sewell's, D-Ala., "John Lewis Voting Rights Act."

Von Spakovsky, who served under President George W. Bush and is now a fellow at the Heritage Foundation's Election Law Reform Initiative, told host Mark Levin that Sewell's bill, heavily supported by Biden and fellow Democrats, will effectively erase any independent state government's control of their own election procedures.

"These laws do everything from gutting voter I.D. laws in all the states, to putting severe restrictions on states [from] being able to verify the eligibility and qualifications of voters, and [restrictions against] cleaning up and maintain[ing] the accuracy of their voter lists," he said.:snip:

Has there been any follow-up on the reports that the House dems were going to replace the text of a NASA related bill with their voting takeover bill (i.e. repeating the way they got Obamacare into a "funding" bill so they could use reconciliation)?

I saw one yesterday but can't find it now
