Two people have been killed and four others seriously injured in a shooting at a German nightclub, police said. The 34-year-old suspect suffered life-threatening injuries in a gunfight with police officers outside the venue in the city of Konstanz, near the Swiss border. He later died in hospital. Police had rushed to the Grey nightclub on Max-Stromeyer-Strasse shortly after the shooting began around 02:30 GMT.

One person was killed inside the club and three guests were seriously wounded. A police officer was injured in the exchange of fire with the suspect, but police say his injuries are not life-threatening.

Police later ruled out terrorism as a motive in the shooting. The gunman was identified as an Iraqi citizen who was not an asylum seeker.

Konstanz police spokesman Fritz Bezikofer told the n-tv broadcaster: "The motives of the man who acted alone are unclear.

On Friday, a failed asylum seeker killed one person and injured six others in the northern city of Hamburg.

Officials said he was an Islamist known to security forces and he had was psychologically unstable.

This week in "enrichment"; Iraqi shoots people at club in Konstanz, Palestinian stabs people in Hamburg, four people arrested in Sydney for planning to blow up a plane, in Birmingham an "asian" man rapes a 14 year old girl, then when she goes to seek help she is raped by another "asian" man... And yet the real menace apparently is "the far right".
