Podesta group launching investigation of Trump

Just as President-elect Trump is backing down on his campaign promise to have a special prosecutor investigate Hillary Clinton, one major progressive group announced plans Tuesday to launch a probe into the incoming Republican leader.

 

Center for American Progress Action Fund, founded by Hillary Clinton's former campaign chairman John Podesta, blasted out a fundraising email Tuesday evening asking supporters to donate $100,000 so the group can "mount an aggressive accountability operation" against Trump.

 

"The Center for American Progress Action Fund is launching a Trump Investigative Fund to hold Trump accountable to every promise, relentlessly track and expose his conflicts of interest, and expose the records and values of the people he is selecting to run the country," ThinkProgress' Editor in Chief Judd Legum wrote. "We'll expand our high-quality investigative team and utilize our vast network of progressive allies to deliver our message."

Cummings requests Trump Foundation tax docs

 

Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings on Tuesday asked attorneys representing the Trump Foundation for a series of tax documents in which the foundation may have admitted to violating laws that prohibit the use of charitable funds for personal financial gain.

 

Cummings' request came after a nonprofit-tracking website published the foundation's 2015 tax filing with the IRS.

 

The foundation had checked "yes" on the form when asked if it had transferred "income or assets to a disqualified person," meaning foundation money was moved to someone such as President-elect Trump or his children, all of whom are legally barred from using funds.

 

"If these accounts are accurate, this new documents appears to corroborate multiple reports of self-dealing that have been repeatedly denied or disregarded by President-elect Trump over the past year," Cummings wrote in a letter to Trump's lawyers.

The next few years are going to be a nightmare of investigation after investigation on BOTH sides. I'm going to Belize (at least the weathers better than Canada )
