Post-election, the newspapers and talking heads have picked up right where they left off last Tuesday. They are in full anti-Trump mode. They try to convince us that a handful of alleged incidents of Muslim girls having their hijabs torn off constitutes a wave of terror that Trump is obliged to denounce. Never mind that some of those incidents, at least, are hoaxes. My guess is that most of them are.

On the other hand, reporters don’t demand of Democrats that they denounce the rampaging mobs of crackpot leftists who have set multiple cities on fire, attacked police officers and beaten several Trump supporters senseless. On the contrary, for the most part the press takes a “boys will be boys” attitude toward these far more serious transgressions.

They try to turn Steve Bannon into a Trump administration liability by portraying him as an ogre with smears that generally have zero basis. Meanwhile, they completely ignore the unsavory history of the soon-to-be-chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Keith Ellison. Ellison, unlike Bannon, has actually been a prominent member of a racial hate group. But that is OK with the liberal media.

As Paul noted earlier, the post-election craziness got a little more sinister with the Left’s effort to brand voting for Donald Trump as a “hate crime.” That absurdity isn’t too far afield from the manner in which supposedly more responsible observers are talking about the election.

The Left

A buddy of mine said he decided to vote for Trump, just so he could watch The Left do pretty much what they are doing.

The Left’s New Trump Red Herring: Stephen Bannon

Former Breitbart CEO becomes target of media smear campaign designed to trip Trump transition

November 16, 2016

by Edmund Kozak | Updated 16 Nov 2016 at 7:51 AM

Liberals across the country are throwing a hissy fit in response to the news that Donald Trump appointed former Breitbart News Chairman Stephen K. Bannon as his chief strategist.

Why, the unaware observer might ask? Well, according to the progressive punditry and their legions of easily triggered millennial supporters, Bannon is both an anti-Semite and a white supremacist.

“When they see someone as an ideological threat … there are the piranhas that will circle around.”

While The New York Times called Bannon’s selection an “ominous sign,” The Huffington Post was just a tad less subtle. “A White Nationalist Is the New White House Chief Strategist,” read its headline. Bannon is “known for having white nationalist views,” the article claimed. Scissors-32x32.png

Carpe Diem, Mr. Trump

by Victor Davis Hanson November 15, 2016 4:00 AM

Forgive, but do not forget, and be the strong horse. While we speak, a jealous age will have fled. Seize the day! Trust as little as you can in tomorrow. The Latin poet Horace’s advice of carpe diem— to seize the day and not worry about tomorrow — should be Trump’s transitional guide. The attacks on Trump won’t even wait until he takes office; they begin now, well apart from rioting in the streets. And they will continue to be of several types. Of the personal sort, expect more “investigative” reporting and “speaking truth to power” op-eds about his tax returns, his supposed theft of the election, his purported instigation of turbulence and mayhem, his locker-room talks about women, his business conflicts of interests in office, Trump University, and so on — perhaps written from the high moral ground by the WikiLeaks journalists of the Mark Leibovich, Dana Milbank, Glenn Thrush, Wolf Blitzer, or Donna Brazile sort. The nexus of attack will not be a dramatic scandalous revelation — it will be intended to induce bleeding from a thousand tiny nicks and cuts, all designed to reduce his moral authority and thus his ability to ratchet back the progressive decade.
