WestVirginiaRebel
The Blaze: Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is retiring after more than 30 years in Congress, but the outspoken minority leader’s impending exit from power hasn’t stopped him from unleashing on President-elect Donald Trump. In a strongly worded statement issued by his office Friday, just three days after Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States, Reid said the Republican populist’s victory has “emboldened the forces of hate and bigotry in America.” Reid added that while white nationalists, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Islamic State are “celebrating” Trump’s win, regular, everyday Americans are now living in fear. “I have heard more stories in the past 48 hours of Americans living in fear of their own government and their fellow Americans than I can remember hearing in five decades in politics,” Reid said, adding that “watching white nationalists celebrate while innocent Americans cry tears of fear does not feel like America.” Reid urged Americans to hold Trump accountable for healing a divided country, while simultaneously accusing his political opponent of sex crimes. “If this is going to be a time of healing, we must first put the responsibility for healing where it belongs: at the feet of Donald Trump, a sexual predator who lost the popular vote and fueled his campaign with bigotry and hate,” Reid said. ________ So long, Harry. Updated Nov. 14, 2016 7:40 a.m. ET 333 COMMENTS Harry Reid has done as much as anyone to pave the way for Donald Trump’s victory by promoting Washington dysfunction, so it’s no surprise that he has reacted to the election result by proving the point one more time. http://www.wsj.com/articles/harry-reid-and-the-horse-he-rode-in-on-1479081783
