WestVirginiaRebel
Wall Street Journal: SAC CITY, Iowa—The winner of the presidential race in this rural hub isn’t really in doubt. Sac County, an agricultural community in northwestern Iowa, hasn’t voted for a Democratic presidential nominee since 1988. Still, the results here, in what is firmly Donald Trump country, will reveal something important about the nation’s political landscape: Whether Democrats can hold on to their shrinking share of the rural vote, or whether Republican dominance in the Farm Belt will grow. (Read about more counties that show how the U.S. is changing) President Barack Obama won Iowa twice, one of his party’s few bright spots in the nation’s agricultural midsection. But many Sac County voters seem unhappy with a Democratic Party that increasingly relies on metropolitan voters and calls for government solutions to a range of problems. “Trump is a less-government person. Hillary is a more-government person, and we have too many regulations,” said Gary Langbein, a farmer. “Hillary shouldn’t even be an option on the ballot.” ________ Red country.
