DEVELOPING: An explosion that injured at least 29 people in New York City late Saturday appeared to be "intentional," Mayor Bill de Blasio announced, as sources told Fox News a second device -- a pressure cooker -- was found four blocks away.

De Blasio tried to calm any fears among nervous New Yorkers, saying the explosion had no terrorist connection and wasn't related to a pipe bomb explosion at a charity run in New Jersey earlier Saturday

The blast, which happened at around 8:30 p.m. on West 23rd Street in the city's Chelsea neighborhood, appeared to originate from a construction toolbox in front of a building, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press. A garbage can was found mangled nearby.Scissors-32x32.png

@Geee

"there's no specific and credible threat against New York City at this time from any terror organization."

Specific? Maybe, but NYC is always under threat by Islamic Terrorists.

A device at a second location in Chelsea appears to be a pressure cooker, according to multiple local and federal law enforcement officials.

The object was a pressure cooker with dark colored wiring protruding, connected by silver duct tape to what appears to be a cellphone, officials said. A piece of paper with writing on it was found nearby.

None of the officials would say at this point what was inside the pressure cooker, which has since been removed from the scene.

Big story is that Trump called it a bomb before the media did. Hillary's drugged comments called it a bombing while she slapped Trump for calling it such before her. I guess if it looks like a duck and explodes like a duck that is not enough. It is not like Trump has serious contacts in the police dept or anything.

Watched several channels and they seam to be parsing devices versus bombs and when it was known they were bombs versus devices.

It really nuts how everyone is parsing words this morning. Not terrorism - well it doesn't matter where it is coming from - if it terrorizes people - it's terroism. Device vs bombblink.png IMHO - if it is put together to explode - ITS A BOMB!!!

Why Place Two Bombs in the Chelsea Neighborhood?
By Jim Geraghty — September 18, 2016

It is extremely unlikely that two separate perpetrators, acting independently, would place two explosive devices four blocks apart from one another on the same night. New York City is facing an individual or group who set two explosive devices intending to harm people. (If we were collectively less lucky, the bombs could have killed someone last night.) Whether or not Mayor Bill de Blasio chooses to call it ”terrorism” or says there is any connection to terrorism, the perpetrator’s intent was to terrorize.

A bomber’s choice of location for his bomb says a great deal about him. In the immediate days after the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, some speculated whether it could be the work of militias, because the date (April 15) was close to tax day and the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing (April 19). But militias are primarily angry at the federal government; blowing up a marathon doesn’t make a lot of sense as a target. The Boston Marathon made more sense if you were targeting America or Americans as a whole, and it made more sense if the bomber was local. The Boston Marathon is a huge event in that city and region, but less so on the national stage (most years). As it turned out, the perpetrators were indeed locals who embraced jihadist ideology; they had previously contemplated suicide attacks on the crowds for the Boston Pops fireworks display on the Fourth of July.

The Chelsea bomber presumably could have left his pressure-cooker bombs closer other sites that would be more symbolic – Times Square, the Empire State Building, the Ground Zero memorial. However, all of those sites would have more visible police presence and, perhaps in the bomber’s mind, a more likely chance of being caught before detonation. Some have speculated that because Chelsea has a reputation as a neighborhood with a lot of gays and lesbians, the attacker may have wanted to target them. But the perpetrator also could have easily put his bombs closer to a gay club or other target more closely associated with this group.

It is entirely possible that the perpetrator’s thinking has no coherence, and the selection of targets only make sense to him. Or the randomness may be the point; he wants to send the signal that no place is safe.

Nope - todays 'news' is that Trump is calling for someone to off Hilliary because he told her to have her security team to drop their guns.

I just don't know who they think they are fooling anymore. No one is swayed by the same 2nd amendment story from 2 months ago. No one really believes Trump saying to drop guns is threatening including the people spouting it. They are well past the point that screaming the sky is falling is believed. I'm sure they will get a valid chance yet for Trump to say something, but because they scream about "he said BOMB", etc. NO ONE is listening anymore but themselves.

'Number of individuals' in custody after authorities stop 'vehicle of interest' in Chelsea bombing

Law enforcement officials told the Associated Press that at least 5 men were being questioned. The two officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk about an ongoing investigation. The FBI said in a statement that no one had been charged with any crime and the investigation was ongoing.

New York state Sen. Marty Golden posted an Instagram photo, saying the FBI took “several individuals” into custody on the Belt Parkway underneath the Verrazano Bridge at around 8:40 p.m.

A government source told Fox News that investigators believe more than one person was involved in the blast. Investigators were reviewing surveillance footage from the scene and it does suggest more than one person was involved, the source said.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said earlier Sunday that residents should expect a heightened security presence as the investigation continued and when the United National General Assembly kicks off, which draws leaders from around the world.Scissors-32x32.png

Source: Chelsea Bomber's Sister Also a Jihadi Sympathizer

CBS News is reporting that Chelsea bomber Ahmad Rahami's sister may hold pro-jihadi views.

Site Intelligence Group published Facebook posts allegedly shared by Rahami’s sister Aziza. Some quote radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.

In other posts, she appears to praise terrorists, and use imagery popular with the Muslim Brotherhood.

“It seems like the family may have adopted some of the same viewpoints as he did, but again, it’s too early to say if they were directly involved with the attack itself,” said Tara Maller, a senior policy advisor at the Counter Extremism Project.

Awlaki was an advisor to several 9/11 hijackers and also offered advice to Ft. Hood terrorist Nidal Hasan. "If you were to look at people who had committed acts of terrorism or had been arrested and you took a poll, you'd find that the majority of them had some kind of exposure to Awlaki," said one U.S. counter-terrorism official who has followed his impact closely.Scissors-32x32.png

Ahmad Khan Rahami spent time at Pakistan seminary tied to Taliban

Ahmad Khan Rahami, the man suspected of placing bombs in New York and New Jersey last weekend, spent time in a religious seminary in Pakistan closely associated with the Afghan Taliban, according to a government official.

The 28-year-old, who was born in Afghanistan but became a US citizen, spent time at the Kaan Kuwa Naqshbandi madrassa on his two visits to Pakistan, a security official working for the government of Balochistan province told the Guardian.

Rahami spent three weeks in 2011 receiving “lectures and Islamic education” at the school in Kuchlak, a dusty cluster of villages 20km north of Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, he said.

Kuchlak is a well-known hub for the Taliban, the Islamist movement that has waged a 15-year insurgency against local and Nato forces in nearby Afghanistan. It is home to many madrassas, the seminaries intimately linked with the Taliban, originally a movement of religious students.Scissors-32x32.png

Imam in Bombing Suspect's Hometown Speaks Against Violence
Megan Trimble and Munir Ahmed, associated press
ELIZABETH, N.J. — Sep 23, 2016

An imam spoke against violence and in support of law enforcement during the first Friday prayer service since a local man was charged in last weekend's New Jersey and New York City bombings.

Imam Syed Fakhruddin Alvi urged the more than 100 men gathered at the Muslim Community Center of Union County to be vigilant in leading their families and children away from evil.

Mosque leaders called bombing suspect Ahmad Khan Rahami, an Afghanistan-born U.S. citizen whose father is an active member of the mosque, misguided and said people who follow extremist teachings are criminals.

"Nobody has any right to kill any non-Muslim," the imam said. "If anyone kills a non-Muslim citizen, paradise will be done for him."

(Snip)

The suspect's father, Mohammad Rahami, said his son was a changed person after visiting Afghanistan and Pakistan in 2013. He said he told the FBI in 2014 about his son's apparent radicalization after household tensions led to a fight in which another of his sons was stabbed.

"I found a change in his personality. His mind was not the same. He had become bad, and I don't know what caused it, but I informed the FBI about it," Mohammed Rahami said in Urdu.

A senior FBI official pushed back against Mohammad Rahami's claim to have warned agents about his son.

FBI agents interviewed the father in 2014 after Ahmad Rahami's arrest on charges — later dropped — that he stabbed one of his brothers in the leg. The FBI initiated contact because the father had expressed concern to someone following that episode over his son's internet use and some of his associates.

But in interviews with agents, Mohammed Rahami "at no time" discussed his son's radicalization or potential interest in al-Qaeda, the Taliban or their propaganda, according to the FBI official, who wasn't authorized to discuss the case by name and spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Chelsea Bomber Hated American Homosexuals

It's becoming increasingly clear why Ahmad Khan Rahami chose New York's Chelsea neighborhood known as an LGBT enclave for his Islamic jihad last weekend. The Afghan immigrant had a deep hatred of American culture and the LGBT community, and would fondly reminisce "how there weren't homosexuals in Afghanistan" as reported by the New York Post.

One of the reasons that Muslim extremists are attacking the West "is because of the gays" -- the Pulse massacre last June which was celebrated by ISIS is Exhibit A -- and yet "in the wake of Orlando the gay press was filled not with pieces warning gay people about Islamic gay-hate, but pieces going out of their way to warn people against linking the massacre to Islam or Muslims" as reported by Douglas Murray for The Spectator: "how much longer do people think that gay 'community leaders' can keep this denial up for?"

Let's be clear (since our supposed President and his underlings are not clear). The mass slaughter by Omar Mateen at gay night club Pulse in Orlando, FL was fueled by "radical Islam's loathing for gays" as reported by Linda Stasi for the Daily News: "Mateen's murderous rage wasn't so much about allegiance to ISIS, as it was about Islamic-forbidden sex."

There is an undisputable connection between radical Islam and gay bashing some of which Stasi details:
