OUTPAID: Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant makes $122,160 per year, which is less than 36 school district superintendents make per year. Thirty-six school superintendents make more than the governor, according to See the School Spending, a website from the conservative-leaning Mississippi Center for Public Policy. The site takes data from the Mississippi Department of Education and places it into an interactive, sortable form. Jackson Public Schools superintendent Cedrick Gray is the state’s highest-paid district boss, making $205,000 per year after he was given a $5,000 raise last year.
