Speaker Paul Ryan is expected to dominate in his Tuesday House primary, even without the endorsement of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

A Remington Research Group poll released Friday shows 80 percent of voters support Ryan in his Wisconsin primary, compared to a mere 14 percent backing challenger Paul Nehlen, a conservative Trump supporter.

Trump declined this week to endorse Ryan and earlier praised Nehlen for supporting him for president.

Nehlen had said that Ryan misunderstands Trump’s immigration proposals, which would temporarily ban those from certain countries with terrorist activity from coming into the United States.

“The problem with Paul Ryan is his constant knee-jerk reactions to anything controversial Donald Trump might say without completely understanding the issue,” Nehlen’s campaign wrote on Monday. “He’s LOOKING for a way to contradict and criticize Mr. Trump because he knows the liberal press will eat it up.”

@Valin - Lots of money pouring in from out of State, and it's not all Republican money. The Democrats know what these idiot Republicans do not realize. If Ryan loses this primary, the seat goes Democrat. This is a very mixed district. A lot of people (including me) are incensed at this ad that his opponent is running on the internet, on billboards and print. "Paul Ryan has a drug problem" - you have to go to the link or website to find out that Ryans supposed "drug problem" is illegals coming with drugs over the boarder. Now you know that most people are lazy and only read the headline and come away thinking that Ryan takes or has taken drugs. This is the biggest ad this guy has running anywhere. I know Ryans morals, makes me question his opponents.

The other big money coming from out of State is trying to unseat Sen. Ron Johnson and put ultra liberal Russ Feingold back in his seat. Feingold is running one ad that tells step by step how he would handle terrorism. Johnson is running an ad showing how when he was Senator after 9/11 he voted against all of the things he says he is now going to do if voted back inrolleyes.gif The other ad Fiengold is running against Johnson (a successful Wisconsin businessman) is that he claims to be for the little guy but that when he became Senator and handed over the management of his company, he gave himself 10 million dollars. Big deal - it was HIS money. Feingold has been living off the public dole for most of his life!!

Senator Johnson will be forever know for asking the question, (who even remembers the question) that Hillary answered - "WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE!!!!! wink.png

Back home, Ryan is 'Mr. Wisconsin'

JANESVILLE, Wis. — The portrait of House Speaker Paul Ryan as a fifth-generation local raising his three children on the same block on which he grew up is genuine.

After becoming the most powerful representative late last year, and drawing a primary challenger mainly focused on his leadership role in March, the question of whether he was losing touch back home arose. But chats with constituents across the Badger State's 1st Congressional District, and especially those here in his hometown, reveal that most believe he is still firmly rooted in southeastern Wisconsin.

As Ryan faces Paul Nehlen at the polls on Tuesday, a small sampling of Main Street businesses on Sunday produced a two-for-two record of Ryan visits within the past week.

"He's the only politician I've met. He's a regular guy doing his job," said Evan Brovold of Delavan. Ryan spoke to one of Brovold's high school classes in 2010 and left him with a good impression. When Ryan became speaker last October, he "felt a sense of pride," Brovold said.Scissors-32x32.png

Early returns show Ryan at 90% - Nehlen 10%

Wisconsin does NOT like outside interference in it's elections - When outsiders tried to get Walker unseated in the recall, people that did not vote for him in the general election came out to vote for him, even Democrats.

Paul Ryan Easily Trounces Primary Challenger

There was no Eric Cantor-style upset in a businessman's bid to oust House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) in that state's GOP primary Tuesday night.

After last week's tussle over whether GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump would support Ryan, after Trump thanked Paul Nehlen for his support, Ryan easily beat back a challenge from Nehlen.

With 86 percent of precincts reporting, Ryan had 84 percent of the vote to Nehlen's 16 percent.Scissors-32x32.png

It just means that we have to make sure that the Democrat is elected in Wisconsin - 1. It is better to have an open enemy in front of you than having a covert enemy behind you pretending to be a leader of your side.

It's a crazy crazy world where the good people have all of a sudden become the enemy, the crooked the good; normality becomes abnormality and abnormality becomes heroicblink.png How can a kid not become absolutely confused today? How do you teach morals when it's whatever floats your boat is fine????

Three Reasons Paul Ryan Avoided Eric Cantor’s Fate
Explaining an upset that wasn’t
Tim Alberta
August 9, 2016

It was a steamy summer night on June 10, 2014, when Eric Cantor, then the majority leader of the House of Representatives, suffered a stunning defeat in Virginia’s seventh congressional district. Despite his national profile, a healthy campaign war chest, and internal polls showing him leading by insurmountable margins, Cantor lost the Republican primary to Dave Brat, a little-known college professor running hard to the majority leader’s right on immigration, among other issues. When all the votes were counted, it wasn’t even close; Cantor lost by eleven points. The result sent shockwaves through Washington and served warning to even the most powerful and well-entrenched members of Congress: You could be next.

Twenty-six months later, Paul Ryan — Cantor’s close friend, erstwhile co-author, and fellow “Young Gun” — faced an eerily similar situation in Wisconsin’s first district. As speaker of the House, a two-time committee chairman, and the party’s 2012 nominee for vice president, Ryan has become synonymous with the “establishment.” So it was unsurprising, particularly in the anti-Washington climate of 2016, that he drew a primary challenge from businessman Paul Nehlen, who hoped to channel the country’s anger with the Beltway’s ruling class.

Nehlen followed much of Brat’s formula: He cast Ryan as an out-of-touch elite whose D.C. duties had blinded him to the concerns of his constituents; he accused the speaker of promoting an “open borders” immigration agenda that would endanger both the American worker and the nation’s security; and he recruited prominent tea-party voices to descend on the district in support of his symbolically significant candidacy.

But that’s where the similarities ended. Ryan crushed Nehlen in Tuesday night’s primary, 84 percent to 16 percent, holding onto the seat he first won in 1998 and sending a message to the rebellious grassroots that his brand of Republicanism won’t be easily erased by the populist wave that carried Donald Trump to the GOP nomination.

Or You could go with the Nehlen supporters and simply say Wisconsin voters are 9choose 1) 1. stupid 2. corrupt
