A coalition affiliated with the anti-racism Black Lives Matter movement called for criminal justice reforms and reparations for slavery in the United States among other demands in its first policy platform released on Monday.

The six demands and roughly 40 policy recommendations touch on topics ranging from reducing U.S. military spending to safe drinking water. The groups aim to halt the "increasingly visible violence against Black communities," the Movement for Black Lives said in a statement.

The agenda was released days before the second anniversary of the slaying of unarmed black teen Michael Brown by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. Brown's death, along with other fatal police shootings of unarmed black men over the past two years, fueled a national debate about racial discrimination in the U.S. criminal justice system.

Black Lives Matter Comes Clean

August 2, 2016 8:40 PM | Posted by Bill Otis | 0 Comments

Black Lives Matter got traction from a concocted account of the shooting in Ferguson, Missouri -- that a while policeman, Darren Wilson, shot a black teenager, Michael Brown, even though Brown had his hands up in surrender.

This was shown to be false. Wilson's hands weren't up, and he was not trying to surrender. Instead, the credible evidence showed that, shortly after he robbed a convenience store of practically worthless items, Brown, 6'4" and 292 pounds, had scuffled with Wilson, had tried to wrestle away Wilson's service revolver, and was coming back for more. Wilson fired in self defense.

As one might expect of a movement whose core grievance is fabricated, Black Lives Matter has had more than its share of toxicity, particularly as respects its acerbic view of law enforcement.

Now, however, BLM has made clear its true political roots: It's a Communist front with a racial makeover.

Yes, I know that sounds so Fifties. But the list of demands BLM just released leaves no doubt. Paul Mirengoff has the story. The first name that came to my mind was Herbert Aptheker.

Research Report: #BlackLivesMatter more about radical social upheaval than “Black Lives”
Using Black Lives Matter movement to redefine the American experience into anti-Capitalist upheaval
William A. Jacobson
Thursday, August 11, 2016

If you think the Black Lives Matter movement is just or even primarily about “Black Lives,” then you don’t understand the movement.

A new research report, based on detailed interviews with those active in the movement, demonstrates that the organized movement is a vehicle for a radical leftist anti-Capitalist agenda, using “Black Lives” as the hook.

The research is by Anne Sorock of The Frontier Lab using a “deep values” methodology. Several years ago Anne was a regular contributor to Legal Insurrection, but that has fallen off as she devoted herself The Frontier Lab.

Deep values research is something pioneered by Dr. Brian Wansink at the Food & Brand Lab at Cornell University. Anne received her MBA at Cornell and worked with that group. Deep values research seeks to understand not just what consumers like or want, but what deeply held values lead to such decisions.

At The Frontier Lab, Anne applies those research methods to politics.

We have highlighted previously her analysis of why people decide to become politically active, Occupy movement participants’ motivations, and why Republicans won’t call themselves Republican, among others. Anne also years ago interviewed Legal Insurrection readers to understand the deep values of why people visit Legal Insurrection. (Perhaps I’ll share those findings with you in a later post.)

Now Anne has researched the Black Lives Matter movement, and released a report, Black Lives Matter – The Privileged and the Oppressed (full embed at bottom of post).
