Geee
The Hill: Transgender candidates won two Democratic primaries Tuesday night, one for a Senate seat in Utah and the other for a House seat in Colorado. Misty K. Snow will be the first transgender Senate candidate. She will challenge Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) this November. "A lot of people told me whether I win or lose, I'm already making a difference just by running," the Salt Lake City resident told the Salt Lake Tribune. In primary returns, Snow was getting nearly 60 percent of the vote, easily beating the second-place finisher. Snow entered the race late after Jonathan Swinton led at the state convention, according to the Tribune. She made inroads in part by criticizing Swinton for supporting restrictions on abortion rights. Snow also advocated for a $15 per hour minimum wage, paid family leave and legalized marijuana. Snow will be a huge underdog to Lee, the conservative senator and ally of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), a former GOP presidential candidate.
