House Republicans on Monday launched better.gop, a website to highlight their election-year agenda, “A Better Way.”

The website launch comes a day before Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and his GOP colleagues roll out the first plank of their six-point agenda. They'll unveil their anti-poverty plan Tuesday at an event at House of Help City of Hope, a nonprofit in Washington, D.C.'s Anacostia neighborhood.

The other planks are national security, healthcare, tax reform, innovation and investments, and restoring the Constitution. Better.gop will be updated as each of those plans are rolled out during the next three weeks.

With "A Better Way," Ryan and House Republicans want to paint a contrast with Democrats, showing the types of conservative policies they would implement if the GOP takes back the White House.Scissors-32x32.png

This week: House GOP begins rolling out agenda

House Republicans will begin unveiling a formal policy platform this week after Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) became the last GOP leader to fall in line behind Donald Trump.

The rollout begins Tuesday when Ryan and other House Republicans will present the first part of their six-part agenda, dubbed “A Better Way,” to offer solutions to combat poverty at a nonprofit in Anacostia. Then on Thursday, GOP leaders will offer their national security platform at the Council on Foreign Relations.

The rest of the agenda will be presented over the next three weeks the House is in session this month.

Ryan explained that his decision to endorse Trump last week after withholding support for the past month came upon concluding the presumptive GOP nominee would be more likely to help enact the House GOP’s policy platform into law. Notably, Ryan didn’t say he was assured by Trump’s own policy proposals - which differ significantly from the Wisconsin Republican on a range of issues.

Republicans decided to release a policy platform at their retreat in January, long before Trump clinched the party’s presidential nomination. However, it will serve as a platform for Republicans to run on should they try to distance themselves from Trump at the top of the ticket in November.Scissors-32x32.png
