As the state moves to increase solar capacity from 104 megawatts to 120 megawatts in the near term, Vermonters are noticing an increasing number of monocrystalline and polycrystalline silicon panels across the state. Unlike Vermont Yankee, which produced 70 percent of Vermont’s electric generation from a single location in Vernon, solar farms require thousands of acres of land across the state to meet Vermont’s energy needs.
