The climate-change John Doe investigation

MADISON, Wis. – For conservatives who have lived through Wisconsin’s infamous John Doe investigations, it’s difficult to imagine a more egregious case of prosecutorial abuse.

 

Some of the targets of those probes were subjected to predawn, armed raids based on a bogus campaign finance “theory.”

 

But a network of attorneys general is now targeting conservatives based on their thoughts – thoughts deemed contradictory to the Obama administration climate change agenda.

 

An attorney for the Competitive Enterprise Institute tells Wisconsin Watchdog that this “overwhelming and terrifying” investigation in some ways is even worse than the First Amendment violations perpetrated against the victims of John Doe.

 

“There are overwhelming parallels” in the two cases,” said Andrew Grossman, partner at Washington, D.C.-based Baker Hostetler. The law firm is representing CEI in the unprecedented case, and also represents targets of the politically driven John Doe probes.
