Geee Posted March 14, 2016 Share Posted March 14, 2016 I made my mothers recipe for Sweet and Sour Cabbage and served it with Corned Beef and Pierogis while we were in Florida Instead of with potatoes and carrots. My Family will not let me make any thing else with the corned beef now. 1 large head red cabbage, shredded 2 tart apples, grated 1 cup sugar 2 tbsp. butter or margarine 1 cup vinegar 1 tbsp. salt In a deep pot bring vinegar to a boil, adding butter and salt. Add cabbage, cover, and simmer for about 1 1/2 hours. Add sugar and apples and simmer another 30 minutes. Edit to add: I only use half of the sugar and it seems plenty sweet enough to me. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
