The Democratic Debate in Flint Was Yet Another Embarrassment

Almost everyone, including many Republicans themselves, compares the Republican debates to a raucous bread and circuses straight out of the Roman gladiatorial contests. Trump insults Rubio and Cruz, references his private parts, and makes nasty comments about minorities and foreigners. Rubio and Cruz aren't much better, sneering back at Donald, calling him names and bringing Mitt Romney in for backup.

It's an embarrassing horror show humiliating America in the eyes of the world. The way things are going, when the Republicans next meet on March 10, they're likely to pull out Derringers and shoot each other Hamilton-Burr style.

But at least they're not boring. Not only are the Democratic debates boring, they're puerile and cliché-ridden non-events that could scarcely be called debates and are about as interesting as a four a.m. advertorial for cleanser on a cable channel -- softball games in extremis.Scissors-32x32.png

From what I'm seeing on Facebook, Democrats will take boring over the circus on the Republican side every time. They are absolutely gleeful at the disarray they see on TV as Republicans "debate."

Flint Whistleblower Rips EPA Over Flint, Guilty of Serial Malfeasance Since 2001
Matt Vespa
Mar 17, 2016

If you thought the water crisis in Flint, Michigan was terrible, the health impacts from lead contamination for those living in Washington D.C. could dwarf the latest EPA fiasco in the Great Lakes region, according to Inside Sources. Marc Edwards, a Virginia Tech professor, who was one of the key people who raised red flags over Flint’s water quality, said that he wasn’t surprised with the recent situation in Flint after what occurred in Washington D.C. in the early 2000s. Appearing before the House Oversight Committee, Edwards ripped into the Environmental Protection Agency for serial malfeasance starting in 2001. He also criticized former Midwest Region 5 administrator Susan Hedman for suggesting that EPA had nothing to do with creating Flint; they “had everything to do with creating Flint,” according to Edwards.

Hedman also testified before the House Oversight Committee, where chairman Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) criticized her for a lackluster, even “laughable” response to the crisis. A recent email from her staffers also presented the EPA in an unfavorable light, showing them unwilling to “go out on a limb” for the city (via Detroit News):
