Draggingtree
There Surgent: ‘Birther’ Lawsuit Opens Pandora’s BoxBy Steve Berman | January 16, 2016, 11:19am 4 There’s a reason the Supreme Court has never decided a case of “Natural Born Citizen.” It’s a Pandora’s box filled with evil and second-class citizenship. SCOTUS never decided a case of who owns real estate on the moon either, but that doesn’t mean you can buy a crater. However, since there’s now a lawsuit filed to determine just what a “Natural Born Citizen” is, we can ask exactly how stupid it would be to really address the question. While former prosecutor Andrew C. McCarthy put the question to bed, legally, I kicked it around with my lawyer buddies to see exactly how far down the stupid hole this thing goes. It goes pretty far. Jonah Goldberg put it in perspective, noting that the term only applies to one job: President of the United States If the high court defined “Natural Born Citizen” to mean something besides “anything other than a naturalized citizen” (which is the only definition in use now), it would create a new category of citizenship.

Draggingtree
Multiple Suspensions Mark Record of the Birther Lawyer Who Filed Suit on Cruz By Steve Berman | January 17, 2016, 08:20am | @lifeofgrace224 The lawyer who filed suit challenging Senator Cruz’s eligibility to serve as president as a “Natural Born Citizen” has a record pockmarked with disciplinary actions and suspensions. Newton B. Schwartz was barred from practicing in Louisiana for a flurry of ethical violations in 2014. According to the detailed disciplinary ruling against Schwartz in Louisiana, he engaged in legal matters in Louisiana but was never admitted to practice law in the state and never sought temporary admission. (You can read the lengthy disciplinary case against Schwartz here). He also consented to an order barring him from practicing law in Pennsylvania. Although he’s still a member of the Texas bar, that too may soon be subject to disciplinary action. Draggingtree
January 19, 2016 ‘New York Values’: Cruz’s Strategic Play Against TrumpBy Christopher Chantrill After the GOP debate last Thursday night the big issue was “New York Values” and the next day it looked like New Yorker Donald Trump had dealt with the issue by invoking the shades of the fallen 9/11 heroes. But now it all comes clear to me. “New York Values” is how Ted Cruz intends to take the air out of Donald Trump’s balloon. It’s obviously a strategic decision that the Cruz campaign has thought long and hard about. They intend to flood the airways with negative ads showing that Donald Trump is, at heart, just a New York liberal with an unusual haircut and a great reality show. Yes, you say, but these negative ads from Cruz will just make the Trumpers angry. That’s true, but the purpose of negative ads is not primarily to change minds but to drive down the morale and the turnout for the opposition. And that’s how the barrage of New York Values negative ads will work. Sure, they will make the Trumpers angry. You and your guys better figure out how to starve this birther issue before people start talking about The Little Shop of Horrors. http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2016/01/new_york_values_cruzs_strategic_play_against_trump.html
