las-vegas-strip-accidentCNN:

The Las Vegas Strip was blocked off after a car mowed down more than 30 pedestrians Sunday night, authorities said.

At least one person is dead and seven are in critical condition, fire officials said. Medics tended to 37 people.

Authorities don't yet know whether the incident was an accident or intentional. The driver was in custody and was undergoing various tests, including one for alcohol, authorities said.

Rows of ambulances and police cars gathered at the scene, their lights flickering. A witness described a chaotic scene as people fled.

"Everyone was running ... and as I was running, I saw a car up on the sidewalk coming toward us," a witness told CNN affiliate KLAS. "I saw a lady, she didn't seem like she wanted to stop the car, she had both hands on her wheel and she was looking straight forward."Scissors-32x32.png

Not at all saying this is terrorism, or anything more than a drunk.... BUT if you think guns can kill alot of people imagine all the busy streets, shopping areas, festivals, etc. that a car or worse yet a large SUV could take out. One could probable take out more lives with a vehicle than any sort of gun....

This didn't make the national news but had the making of the same story here in the Raleigh metro area.

WRAL

Durham, N.C. — A Cary man is facing 21 charges in connection with a robbery and several hit-and-run accidents that occurred in Durham.

Durham police said that officers responded to a robbery in the 600 block of Morgan Street at 4:42 p.m. on Dec. 9. A 26-year-old woman was getting into her car when Eric Jerome Nguyen, 27, kicked her, knocked her to the ground, and took the keys to her red Honda Civic. Scissors-32x32.png

After that incident, police said that officers responded to several accident calls involving the stolen Honda Civic hitting other vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists throughout the city. Police said the Honda, which was driven without headlights even though it was dark outside, appeared to deliberately strike a pedestrian on Slater Road and a bicyclist on South Miami Boulevard.

Nguyen was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, one count of common-law robbery, two counts of malicious assault in a secret manner, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, seven counts of hit-and-run, two counts of damage to property, and five counts of reckless driving.
