People are accusing Ted Cruz of lying about whether he supported legal immigration. For example, Yahoo:

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, won plaudits in Tuesday night’s debate for his takedown of Sen. Marco Rubio’s, R-Fla., immigration reform effort in 2013.

Yet if Cruz’s explanation of why he proposed an amendment to the 2013 legislation is true, then he blatantly misrepresented his own intentions at the time on at least four occasions.

Cruz denied on Tuesday that he has ever supported legal status for undocumented immigrants.

“I have never supported legalization, and I do not intend to support it,” Cruz said, when questioned by Rubio.

In 2013, however, Cruz sponsored an amendment that would have allowed undocumented immigrants to remain in the United States permanently and obtain legal status, while eliminating a path to citizenship. It is very hard to square that effort with Cruz’s claim that he has “never supported legalization.”

Not really. Scissors-32x32.png

Trump Backed Amnesty For Illegal Aliens Only Last June

Election '16: The centerpiece of GOP front-runner Donald Trump's presidential campaign is his hard-line stance on immigration. But he was for amnesty before he was against it. And it wasn't that long ago.

Trump supporters concerned that unfettered immigration will bring liberalism into permanent dominance over the American electorate and society — and that probably describes most of them — don't know Donald like they think they know Donald.

You don't have to go back far to find a pro-amnesty statement from the No. 1 defender of deportation. At the end of June, speaking to the press in Chicago and after saying he "heard you probably have 30 million" illegal aliens in America, Trump contended:

"You have to give them a path, and you have to make it possible for them to succeed. You have to do that. But the bad ones, and there are bad ones, you have to get out, and you have to get them out fast."Scissors-32x32.png

Given the numbers here, and what it would take to deport them (if memory serves) 15,000 every day for two years, that seems like a reasonable solution.

Before we even begin to have this food fight discussion, The borders & Visa over stays have to be brought under control.

As my buddy Rick says "One of the wonderful things about America is you are free say the dumbest things." This is an example of what he is talking about.

Spoken like someone who either is GOPe....or believes they have a right to do anything they want, after being elected on a whole 'nother set of ideas & promises to their constituents.

Professional politicians are anathema to enlightened & responsible representation.

Homogeneous empty suits that are in thrall to PAC's & outside influence....so as to keep their "lifetime entitlement" at the taxpayers trough.

Elite princes/princesses of the political ruling class.

...and you're shocked....SHOCKED....that Trump has a lead in the 2016 Prez race.

Oh horror's!

You're upset at the "The Garbage People Who Embarrass Us So"

You may have to become used to disappointment....like the rest of us.

It’s already a non-story, but it’s instructive on how Big Media and establishment Republicans operate. Here’s the type of story we were seeing over the last couple of days:

A Republican senator is investigating whether Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz released classified information while discussing the National Security Agency during Tuesday night’s debate.

“I’m having my staff look at the transcripts of the debate right now,” Senator Richard Burr, chairman of the Intelligence Committee, told reporters, according to The Hill, a political website. “Any time you deal with numbers… the question is, ‘Is that classified or not?’ or is there an open source reference to it?”

Guess what? A Jeb Bush PAC gave Richard Burr the maximum contribution.

Now it turns out there were will be no investigation — because Cruz didn’t do it. Everything he said had already been reported in Big Media. Scissors-32x32.png

Not Secret Socialist, silly.....Elitist Oligarchy maybe....Crony Monarchy...

Founders? You mean like farmers George Washington & Sam Adams?

Generals Jackson, US Grant & Ike?

Maybe haberdasher Truman?

All crap, beside the point.

Just because it has happened with regularity, does not make it right, good or necessary.

Ignore the discontent of a constituency that has been lied to & gamed....resulting in the same old, same old.....and you get a Trump. I'm glad he's blazing a trail & flips the bird to the established order. He could be no worse than McCain, Graham, Pelosi or Reid....and possibly has more business savvy. He can appoint people with skill & credential to do the few things that the Fed was authorized to do...beginning with protecting the citizens & their Constitutional Republic. He's not my choice; I'd prefer Ted Cruz....but I'll pull the lever for him over Hillary, Sanders or the lesser evils of the Republicans. That's my opinion....and no better or worse than yours.

@SrWoodchuck

If you don't think George Washington, Sam Adams, John Adams, Ben Franklin and the rest of the founders/framers were not politicians who spent their lives in politics, you better think again. Same goes for Jackson, Ike and Truman? They were first and for most politicians.

Listen I would have no problem voting for Ted, he is just not #1 on my list. I've got problems with him (and the rest also it needs to be said). He is to close to Rand Paul on national security for my tastes (This is not a deal killer for me, just saying), It appears he does not play well with others. You and so many others may see this as a positive, I don't. Part of politics is the ability to get other politicians to vote your way, all great politicians have this ability, from what I've read most of the GOP senators don't like him.

Carly Fiorina On The Day The 2016 Field Thins By One

HH: (laughing) Okay, let me go to a place where maybe I can get an indiscreet answer out of you. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz are like the old Looney Tunes cartoon with the Tasmanian Devil rolled through and took everything with him into that giant cloud of chaos. I don’t know who’s winning or losing. What do you make of that discussion? And what do they, what is the difference between them?

CF: Well, they are two first-term Senators who are arguing over their votes. A tough vote isn’t a tough call. They haven’t made executive decisions. And I don’t think the Oval Office is a place for on the job training on how to make a tough call that you’re going to be held accountable for. I very much hope that your listeners, and we were talking about solutions last section. I’ve laid out a set of solutions. It’s called my blueprint to take our country back. It’s six things that we must do that we can do, that are all doable, six things that have to be done early on in a first term. I want the American people to help me get them done, but I want the American people to hold me accountable for getting them done. They’re not the only things we have to do, but they’re the things we have to start with to take our country back, because where we are now as a nation is unacceptable. And we have settled for it for way too long. We are crushing possibilities for too many Americans, our government is completely out of control and unresponsive, and the political class is as well. And we are not leading in the world, so the world is a very dangerous and tragic place. And unfortunately, that danger is coming home.
