Two House Republicans have asked dozens of Planned Parenthood organizations to say whether their doctors have altered abortion procedures to keep fetal organs intact.

 

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte of Virginia and Rep. Trent Franks of Arizona wrote to 58 Planned Parenthood affiliates across the country on Wednesday asking for extensive information on their clinical procedures and standards when performing abortions.

 

The committee is investigating the women's health and abortion provider for its involvement in providing aborted fetal tissue to biomedical companies, as a series of recent undercover videos by anti-abortion investigators have shown.

Debate, if you like, the moral status of the in utero “product of conception.” Wonder, if you want to, about the precise point of “viability” or “quickening.” No such arguments apply here. This was allegedly a living baby, exposed on a counter and murdered. This was not a “conceptus” or a “specimen.” This was a person, vested with a constitutional right to life and guaranteed the full protection of the United States government.

 

This should be different.

 

But it won’t be. As of Wednesday afternoon, major media outlets remained utterly silent about the latest video. There is no mention of it on the online front pages of the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, or the Chicago Tribune; it is not on the homepages of CNN or the news arms of ABC, NBC, or CBS. These are the same august outlets from which you can currently learn about “the smells of summer” in New York City, a viral deleted scene from the sitcom Friends, or security camera footage of a Utah police officer dancing to the Silento song “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” at a 7-Eleven.

 

This is nothing new. According to a YouGov poll taken earlier this month, 68 percent of respondents reported having heard “nothing at all” about the Planned Parenthood videos. And as for government leaders, two weeks ago Josh Earnest confessed that, to his knowledge, no one in the White House had watched any of the videos, and that he was simply parroting Planned Parenthood’s talking points. It is sadly predictable that the White House has said, and will say, nothing of substance in response to the videos.

Rep. Mia Love Weeps for Lost Babies While Discussing Planned Parenthood Tissue Harvesting

“It's absolutely horrific,” Love said when asked for her reaction to the videos of Planned Parenthood officials talking about harvesting fetal tissue. "I get a little bit emotional just thinking about it and seeing what has happened.

 

"Here we are in the United States of America and our job is to protect life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, first and foremost life," she said. "It's our job to protect those who do not have a voice to protect themselves, and to see what is actually happening to babies while they're still alive, I mean, it's horrific.

Jindal to screen Planned Parenthood videos outside mansion

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal will try to counter a pro-Planned Parenthood rally scheduled to take place outside his mansion on Thursday by running a loop of the secretly recorded videos that they plan to protest. Jindal announced Thursday that he is setting up an outdoor movie screen and speakers outside the governor’s mansion to show the controversial videos, which he said too many of Planned Parenthood’s supporters have refused to watch.

 

The showing will take place at the exact time of a scheduled protest by Planned Parenthood supporters.

 

“Planned Parenthood has a right to protest today, but Governor Jindal’s office will ensure that anyone who shows up will have to witness first-hand the offensive actions of the organization they are supporting,” Jindal, who is also a Republican presidential candidate, wrote in a statement. “We hope the protesters will take a minute to watch them so they'll have an opportunity to see first-hand our concerns with Planned Parenthood’s practices,” he added.

Ninth Video: Intact Fetuses ‘Just Fell Out’

Fetal harvesters in Planned Parenthood clinics sometimes take and dissect what is apparently a live and fully intact fetus when it drops out of the womb, a procurement manager for a fetal tissue harvesting company says in the ninth video released Tuesday by the Center for Medical Progress.

 

“I literally have had women come in and they’ll go in the O.R. and they’re back out in 3 minutes, and I’m going, ‘What’s going on?'” Perrin Larton, procurement manager at Advanced Bioscience Resources says in the video to undercover actors posing as potential buyers. “Oh yeah, the fetus was already in the vaginal canal whenever we put her in the stirrups, it just fell out.”

NIH Bills Taxpayers for Aborted Baby Body Parts

 

The federal government uses taxpayer dollars to buy body parts harvested from aborted babies, according to a new video.

The Center for Medical Progress released a ninth video featuring major Planned Parenthood partner Advanced Bioscience Resources on Tuesday. The company’s procurement manager, Perrin Larton, said that one of the company’s biggest buyers is the National Institutes of Health.

“We continued to send tissue to people like NIH,” Larton told the undercover videographers. “Even though the government was paying for it, fetal tissue weren’t put in that little box of embryonic because it’s different.”

An NIH spokeswoman declined to comment on the use of taxpayer money for buying baby parts saying she was “not an expert.” The NIH did not return email inquiries into what the body parts were used for or if the government intended to maintain its relationship with companies that traffic baby organs.

Larton lamented that pro-life lawmakers could cut off its moneymaking capabilities.

“Now they’re trying to make abortion illegal and that’s where we get our tissue,” she said. “The whole point is not to have a live birth.”

The Center for Medical Progress, a pro-life nonprofit, has pointed to other conversations of “intact fetuses” as proof that abortionists perform illegal partial birth abortions. Lorton told the undercover videographers that the babies “just fell out” before their body parts were harvested and sold.

Research firm Fusion GPS said experts it hired on behalf of Planned Parenthood found it was impossible to determine how much the edits to the video distorted the meaning of what was said during the meetings.

 

Glenn Simpson of Fusion GPS said the video work was “sloppy at best” and that transcripts provided by the center were inaccurate and erroneous. It said the footage had no evidentiary value in an inquiry unless the original material was provided to investigators.

On July 14, the Center for Medical Progress began releasing a series of videos about the Planned Parenthood abortion clinics. Reporting for the video project was done undercover and took place over the course of several years. The videos feature executives and staffers at Planned Parenthood and affiliated businesses discussing and demonstrating human organ harvesting and the fetal body part trade. Some of the discussions and footage taken inside abortion clinics is quite graphic.

 

The journalism project immediately went viral, with millions of people watching the videos. But the media have largely struggled to even mention the videos and what they show. When presidential candidate Carly Fiorina mentioned the videos during the 2nd GOP presidential debate, the media claimed to have no idea what she was talking about. The weak media coverage has left many Americans in the dark about the content of the videos. And sloppy reporting has led to misinformation about the videos.
