Bush 41 hospitalized

Former President George H. W. Bush ® was rushed to a Houston hospital Tuesday evening after experiencing shortness of breath, according to a statement from the 41st president’s office.

 

“President Bush was taken by ambulance to the Houston Methodist Hospital as a precaution after experiencing a shortness of breath earlier this evening. The former president, age 90, will be held for observation, again as a precaution,” the statement read.

 

He is the father of the 43rd president, George W. Bush, and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

 

According to The Washington Post, Bush has had heart problems since 1991, when he was president. At that time, he entered the hospital with an irregular heartbeat and was diagnosed with Graves Disease, a thyroid condition.

 

Bush celebrated his 90th birthday in June with a tandem parachute jump near his summer home in Maine. His most recent public appearance was in November at Texas A&M University, an event he attended with his son, former President George W. Bush, according to the report.
