Harry-Reid-If-Ernst-Wins-Iowa-Senate-Republicans-Will-Take-MajorityBreitbart:

Democrat Senate Majority leader Harry Reid is warning that if Republican Joni Ernst wins her bid for an open U.S. Senate seat in Iowa, the Democrats will lose their majority in the upper chamber.

After Iowa's longtime Democrat Senator Tom Harkin announced he would not run for re-election, Iowa Democrats chose trial lawyer Bruce Braley as the man to face State Senator and Republican candidate Joni Ernst.

But Braley has run an often inept campaign and, as the hours before Election Day on November 4 tick down, his Republican opponent has begun to pull ahead of him in polls in a year that seems to be trending toward the Republicans all across the nation.

Harkin himself even seems to sense that Braley is a flawed candidate. The Iowa stalwart has been criticized for refusing to release any of his mountains of campaign cash to assist Braley this year.

Now, with Ernst gaining in the polls, Democrat majority leader Reid is warning that if Ernst wins, all will be lost for the liberals. Reid also laments that a Senator Ernst would mean he'd lose his leadership job.

"What Joni Ernst would mean, coming to the United States Senate, is that Mitch McConnell would be the leader of the Senate, someone who agrees with her on virtually everything. Think what that would mean to our country," Reid said on Friday.

________

Go, Joni, go.

The Ernst equation
Scott Johnson

November 2, 2014

In the race for Iowa’s open Senate seat, Republican candidate Joni Ernst has held a slight lead over Democratic contender Bruce Braley for a while. Ernst is a terrific candidate and one of our Power Line Picks.

[n]The big political news today is that the last pre-election Iowa poll conducted on behalf of the Des Moines Register shows Ernst opening up a 7-point lead over Braley among likely voters.[/b] Jennifer Jacobs reports on the poll results here and adds 10 interesting takeaways from the poll here. The poll’s margin of error is 3.7 percent. Ernst’s lead is still within the poll’s margin of error, but the movement seems to be significant and in her direction.

You have to wonder if the late movement doesn’t signify such movement in other similar races around the country. In October the Democrats pulled out all the stops for Braley. They kept Barack Obama away from the state. They threw Michelle Obama out to prop up Braley, not once (hey, give it up for her good friend “Bruce Bailey”), but twice. They threw out Hillary Clinton.

They even threw out the Big Dog himself. They brought in Bill Clinton to argue on Braley’s behalf that we would “grow together” with Bruce.

Reid: Ernst too far right for conservatives

* Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Saturday urged progressive activists to get out the vote for Bruce Braley, calling Iowa crucial to Democratic hopes to keep the Senate.

“If we win Iowa, we’re going to do just fine,” Reid said on a call organized by the Progressive Change Campaign Committee. “Iowa is a key for what we do.”

During the call, Reid said Joni Ernst, the GOP Senate nominee in Iowa, would be a disaster for issues key to progressives, like protecting Social Security and raising the minimum wage.

* And world class scumbag.
