Media Bias: Once again, CNN's Candy Crowley is doing President Obama's bidding, this time shielding him on the border crisis. As debate moderator, she saved his 2012 re-election campaign. Why hasn't she been fired?

The catastrophe on our southern border has brightly shone the media spotlight on maybe the only Republican politician who has actually gone beyond talking about the disaster and physically done something: Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who just ordered 1,000 National Guard troops to the border.

His leadership has intensified speculation that this staunch conservative from the state the Federal Reserve Banks says has the best job creation record in the country will once again run for president. So it's hardly a surprise that he would be a media target.

Interviewed Sunday on CNN by Candy Crowley, Perry pointed to the 203,000 illegal immigrants "booked into Texas county jails" over the last six years. And Perry added they "are responsible for over 3,000 homicides and almost 8,000 sexual assaults."

Crowley retorted that "a number of fact-checkers have said that that 3,000-homicide figure is wildly off." But the "number of" to which she refers apparently numbers only one: the PolitiFact website.

Here is what the Texas Department of Public Safety found: "From October 2008 through July 1, 2014, Texas has identified a total of 203,685 unique criminal alien defendants booked into Texas county jails." There have been "at least 642,564 individual criminal charges in Texas" against them, mostly "including 3,070 homicides and 7,964 sexual assaults."Scissors-32x32.png
