Valin
NY Daily News: Leslie Larson 1/31/14 MSNBC chief Phil Griffin denies his cable network is a platform for the liberal agenda, insisting the channel only welcomes a certain progressive sensibility. Since November, Griffin has faced criticism for his news hosts taking pot shots at conservatives and just this week, Griffin apologized for a tweet posted to the MSNBC Twitter account bashing the rightwing. (Snip) The message, posted Wednesday, came after host Melissa Harris-Perry joked about Mitt Romneys adopted black grandson on her show in late December and Martin Bashirs lewd language bashing Sarah Palin in November. Bashir has since resigned from the network. But Griffin defends his team in the face of the anti-GOP rhetoric, telling the Hollywood Reporter earlier in January, I don't think it hurt us in any way. He told the Daily Beast in an interview published Thursday, though the chat was conducted before the social media scandal, that he hires people who fit the sensibility but denied being a flag bearer for any certain ideology. If youre a Democrat in trouble ... youre not going to get a free ride if you did wrong, he said. Draggingtree
EDITORIAL: Confronting race-baiting at MSNBC The Republicans call out liberal network’s slur and get an apology By THE WASHINGTON TIMES Friday, January 31, 2014 The race card is the overworked joker in the deck of every media and political hack. When a Democratic partisan lays it on the table, the Republican instinct is to head for the exit, leaving his cards, chips and courage behind. But not always, as the cable-news network MSNBC learned when it overplayed its hand the other day. MSNBC is the go-to channel for race-baiting fans and enthusiasts. Its hosts vilify conservatives, rank-and-file Republicans, Tea Party activists and sometimes the Republican establishment, as racists all. Last week, the network tweeted this: “Maybe the rightwing will hate it, but everyone else will go awww: the adorable new Cheerios ad w/ biracial family.” The commercial was scheduled for broadcast during the Super Bowl. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/jan/31/editorial-confronting-the-race-baiter/
pollyannaish
From a business standpoint, why wouldn't you just admit it? Fox always embraced the fact that most of their opinion shows had a right leaning tilt. They would hen clearly balance that with some leftist commentators. Fair and balanced wasn't in a single person. I think my respect for them would go up a LOT if they would say "yeah, we have a lot of leftist commentators. That is the audience we want to serve." And my response se would be...ok. Fair enough.
Draggingtree
MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry delivered a laughable, childish speech at Cornell's Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Lecture on Feb. 23, 2015.
Valin
@Draggingtree And nothing will happen to her....well nothing bad. I wonder what Martin King would say?
