ALBANY New York Gov. Andrew Cuomos anti-corruption commission killed a subpoena to the state Democratic Party that he controls, the Daily News has learned.

Sources said the subpoena sought to seek information on the partys spending from its housekeeping account which raised millions this year used to fund ads promoting Cuomos legislative agenda.

William Fitzpatrick, the commissions co-chairman, informed panel members at a private meeting last week that the subpoena was never sent. Instead, one went to the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee, Fitzpatrick said, according to insiders.

Moreland Commission Has A Credibility Problem

10/8/13

The Moreland Commission was launched by Gov. Andrew Cuomo to investigate corruption in New York but as reports surface that his administration has exercised pressure to kill subpoenas the supposedly independent investigative panel is losing face with a cynical public as reported by The New York Times: "Mr. Cuomo, discomforted by the commission's work and the tension with the Legislature, appears to be considering an exit strategy."
