Ron Johnson said Thursday that he is confident lawmakers will strike a spending deal to avoid a government shutdown and that most likely it will include some tweaks to Obamacare. Mr. Johnson, Wisconsin Republican, said on MSNBC’s “The Daily Rundown” that he would like to see lawmakers rally around a continuing funding resolution that sticks to the spending caps in the 2011 Budget Control Act. SPECIAL COVERAGE: Health Care Reform He also said that in order to get enough support from the House GOP, the proposal should eliminate the contributions that the government gives to lawmakers to help them cover the cost of their insurance premiums and repeal the medical device tax, which he said is drying up investment in the medical industry and pushing jobs overseas.
