A history not taught in school and our children will never know

On this day in 1989, the Baltic Way took place. People in the Baltic Republics of the Soviet Union (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) formed a human chain stretching for hundreds of miles:

On this day in 1989, the Baltic Way took place. People in the Baltic Republics of the Soviet Union (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) formed a human chain stretching for hundreds of miles:

 

* I vividly recall what an exciting time that was. It seemed like anything was possible. Too many people seem to forget just how dangerous the Cold War war (**10's of thousands of nuclear weapons on a hair trigger), and how truly evil (and I don't use that word lightly) the USSR was.

 

* It should also be noted that today Russia wants the Baltic States back.

 

** It should also be noted that people like Victor Hanson and others maintain without those nuclear weapons, The West and the Warsaw pact would probably have gone to war.
