obamas-final-word-catholics-must-buyprovide-coverage-abortion-drugsCNS News:

(CNSNews.com) - The Department of Health and Human Services today released the final text of the final adjustments to the Obamacare regulation that requires virtually all health-care plans to provide cost-free coverage for sterilizations, contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs.

Catholics and Evangelical Christians have objected to the regulation, arguing that it violates their First Amendment right to the free exercise of religion. The Catholic Church teaches that sterilization, contraception and abortion are all intrinsically immoral. Evangelical Christians believe that abortion takes an innocent human life and is thus wrong.

The final regulation issued today provides no accommodations at all for individual Catholics and other Christians who morally object to the mandate. It also makes no accommodations for private for-profit employers who morally object to the mandate.Scissors-32x32.png

Court: Gov’t Must Halt Enforcement of Sterilization-Contraception-Abortifacient Mandate Against Hobby Lobby

(CNSNews.com) – Following on yesterday’s 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that Hobby Lobby can continue its lawsuit against the Obama administration’s contraception mandate on religious grounds, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma ruled today that the federal government must halt all enforcement of the mandate (and related financial penalties) against the Christian-based company.

Hobby Lobby and sister company Mardel are suing the Department of Health and Human Services and Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, arguing that to force the company to pay for health insurance that must offer abortion-inducing drugs, as well as sterilization and contraception, is a violation of its religious liberty.

In his order issued on Friday, U.S. District Judge Joe Heaton said the “court concludes plaintiffs [Hobby Lobby] have made a sufficient showing to warrant the issuance of a temporary restraining order in the circumstances existing here."Scissors-32x32.png

Must? MUST?

Dear Sec. Sebelius

Must is a word one should be very careful of using.

I have a small question for you. What do you suppose would happen if Catholic and other People Of Faith were to shut down their businesses, schools, hospitals, soup kitchens, etc...etc...etc.? What if they were all to separately file for an exemption with your fine agency in the same week? Then go to court? You think something like this might cause some small problems?

Liberal defenders of the HHS mandate have characterized resistance to the mandate as an attack on women’s health while claiming the regulation does not deny the store owners’ right to worship or to personally refrain from any practice that offends their religion. But if the government eventually prevails, it would impose a cribbed version of religious liberty that would significantly impair the First Amendment rights of believers.

This is what it is all about. Removing faith from the public square. We have seen this before removing faith from the public square, and it has never worked out real well.

Obamacare Targets Catholic Hospitals to Strip Them of Tax-Exempt Status

August 11, 2013 By Daniel Greenfield

We’re talking about non-profit hospitals, but a sizable percentage of them are religious hospitals affiliated with the Catholic Church, various Jewish and Protestant hospitals, formerly or currently representing some religious status.

Catholic hospitals make up some of the largest non-profits in the country. Indeed the top four systems in the country are Catholic.

Next on the list is Kaiser Permanente, which is non-religious and which Obama described as a model for Obamacare. Its CEO, George Halvorson, has met with Obama and his top people and pushed Obamacare.Scissors-32x32.png

President Obama Cites Kaiser Permanente Model; Learn More About Why Aug. 25

posted on July 29, 2009

Time Magazine reporter Karen Tumulty talked July 28 with President Barack Obama about health care reform, with a transcript published on the web July 29. Kaiser Permanente’s founding physician, Sidney R. Garfield, would have been proud if he were alive to hear the President say,

“…If we could actually get our health-care system across the board to hit the efficiency levels of a Kaiser Permanente or a Cleveland Clinic or a Mayo or a Geisinger, we actually would have solved our problems.”

Dr. Garfield would have been proud because his vision on the Home Front of World War II was to build such a system for ordinary Americans. Indeed, it’s interesting, as well, to see Kaiser Permanente in the company of the Mayo Clinic. In 1943, the famed medical science writer Paul DeKruif wrote Scissors-32x32.png

@Draggingtree

I'm still hung up on the word Must.

I wonder what would happen if the Catholic Church just shut all the hospitals, schools...etc down, and told the Federal Government, we can't do this, so we're outta here.

@Valin!

I think that Obama has two goals here. Remove the Catholic Hospitals from control of the religious entity, to fold it into the single-payer government system.......and to cause a severe rift between religion & government, so that the government can remove religions from tax free status. It's a whole pile of money.....waiting for redistribution.
