By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | June 22nd, 2013 at 11:45 PM

As we noted on Friday, even though Schumer completely repackaged the amnesty bill with only 3 days to comb through 1190 pages, the fix is in. Every Democrat is prepared to vote for this bill, and at least 10-12 Republicans couldn’t care less about their constituents. They have the votes. They don’t care about the American people. Amazingly, there is a supermajority of Senators who are more in tune with the whims of foreign lobbies than with the security needs of the American people.

I have no plans to reread this entire bill in order to ascertain all the changes and shenanigans in the bill. But here are some of the highlights:

  • Immediate Amnesty; Security Never: The 2006 Secure Fence Act spelled out every mile of fencing and required immediate construction. Ninety-five percent of the fence was never built. This bill grants immediate amnesty, and doesn’t require the surge in border agents until 2017. That will never happen. As for the fence, here is what Senator Sessions noted over the weekend, “the fencing language in Corker-Hoeven is ineffectual and unenforceable. The underlying bill still says that nothing in this provision shall be interpreted as requiring the Secretary to construct fencing. Also, it is weaker than the 2006 law which requires double-layer, reinforced fencing. The amendment establishes a ten-year deadline for completing the fence but retains the waiver authority for DHS not to build fencing. Under their proposal, the fence will never be completed.” See page 35, as reported by Breitbart Scissors-32x32.png

The Colonization of 21st-Century America

By Timothy Birdnow

When author Dinesh D'Souza diagnosed Barack Obama with anti-colonialism, he did so on the basis of Mr. Obama's seemingly inexplicable chip-on-the-shoulder attitude toward the country he himself leads, and his eager attempts to move America down the economic and political ladder toward international mediocrity. Where others were accusing Obama of being clueless or socialist, D'Souza concluded -- based on Obama's infatuation with his Kenyan roots -- that he was fundamentally an anti-colonialist.

One thing is clear; Mr. Obama denies American Exceptionalism. In fact, he aggressively resists it, preferring the United States to be "one among many."

While there are certainly problems with D'Souza's analysis (Obama can be both socialist and Marxist, anti-colonialist and kleptocrat at the same time) Scissors-32x32.png

Marx and Lenin would both see colonialism as a stage in the dialectic process toward Communism.

But colonialism is not just a physical thing, a movement of peoples into a territory, but also an attempt to change the thinking and beliefs of an indigenous people to that of the colonizing power. Amnesty Now, New Border Agents by 2021

June 23, 2013 By Daniel Greenfield

Remember, we have to pass Amnesty now. Like right now. Because we have to secure the border. In 2021. Maybe.

Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) blasted the Senate’s border security amendment to its immigration bill, touted as a breakthrough for the controversial legislation. Sessions alleged that it does not hire any new border agents until years after its presumed passage

Senators Bob Corker (R-TN) and John Hoeven (R-ND) gave reassurances on Thursday that their amendment would enact tough border security provisions Scissors-32x32.png

One More Metaphor for the Gang of 8

By Mickey Kaus 7:41 AM 06/23/2013

Preliminary Search for Loopholes in a Cloud: I’ve been trying to think of the right metaphor for the giant Corker-Hoeven amendment, the one that is reportedly giving the Gang of 8′s immigration bill enough votes to pass the Senate. Sure, it’s a fig leaf–but a fig leaf is usually something insignificant-yet-real. This is something grandiose that’s a fraud.

The best I can come up with is this: A man comes into your restaurant. You recognize him–he’s a guy who ate a $100 meal last year and said he’d pay later, but he stiffed you. Now he’s back and wants another meal on credit. He senses you are wary and makes a new offer. “This time I’ll pay you … $2 million! How can you refuse? It’s 2 million dollars!”

You get the idea. Just try and collect.

Similarly, Schumer, Durbin & Co. have offered a deal to Corker, Hoeven, and conservatives. In essence, it’s this: You’ll immediately legalize 11 M immigrants who are unlawfully in the country. They’ll get work permits renewable ad infinitum–we call it “provisional,” but basically they’re in. Yes, we know that in 1986 we passed an amnesty and promised enforcement that never happened, but this time we promise to Scissors-32x32.png

The Worst? Well I don't know about that. Granted it appears to be pretty darn bad, as it is written now. But Worst or Best something, is people of honor can debate. Lord knows "The Worst" has a lot of competition.

We Don't Need Immigration Reform; We Need Immigration ENFORCEMENT

Why Can’t the ‘Gang of Eight’ Get It? They and the Demagogue Senators Are “Drunk on Amnesty”.

By Jerry McConnell (Bio and Archives) Monday, June 24, 2013

BETRAYAL BY U. S. SENATE VOTE TODAY!

Many columns and much other discussion about the new AMNESTY plan being cooked up by Harry Reid and his un-American promoters of the socialist-communist liberal Democrat Party and the infamous “Gang of Eight” led by the sleaziest person in our United States Senate, the Senator from New York (naturally) Charles Schumer and his rump-massager, Florida Senator Marco Rubio who almost had Americans convinced that he was a real American instead of the bleeding heart pretender he turned out to be.

But that entire claque of country-killing, communism-practicing, socialist liberal Democrat United States Senators are, as Human Events writer John Hayward says online in his column, “Drunk on Amnesty.” To me, they’re all drunk out of their minds trying hard to push an amnesty bill that they drunkenly insist is NOT amnesty. (If it quacks like a duck.) As Hayward points out, “There’s a storm gathering around one of the provisions in the Gang of Eight amnesty bill, but it needs to gather faster, because the ever consider moving on a bill that would actually help American citizens - say, by reducing the tax and regulatory burden on the private sector to spur job growth. Hard-working Americans will have to pay for trillions of dollars in welfare costs and will have to accept lower wages in the process?

Rroma and U.S. Illegal Immigration

By Dr. Ileana Johnson Paugh (Bio and Archives) Monday, June 24, 2013

I have Latino friends who fancy themselves conservatives, even Republicans. But when it comes to illegal immigration, they are rabid Democrats. Any curtailing of illegal crossing of our porous borders, breaking our laws in the process, or discussion of voter ID becomes racism, discrimination, profiling, and sheer hatred.

The Latino lobby is quite powerful not just among our elected officials in Washington who want to cling to power by pandering to higher donors and loud non-English speaking groups, but also in the boardrooms of large and small corporations alike who want cheap labor and no employee healthcare costs to comply with Obamacare. Democrats cannot wait to have 11 million more low information voters without English skills who will vote Democrat in perpetuity. Who can resist Santa Claus?

The pressure is on to pass amnesty immediately for 11 million illegal aliens, “undocumented Americans in the shadows” at Seven Elevens, gas stations, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, the welfare office, the Social Security, WIC, EBT offices, ER, shopping at the mall, in church, and wherever else there is a way to milk the system and get free stuff from the “stupidly-generous gringos Scissors-32x32.png

A Citizen’s Rant on The Border – Not Buying Political Lies!

Posted on June 24, 2013 by Liberty Logic

Listening to the debates about Immigration reform on television, you would think that Comprehensive immigration Reform bill has something to do with security of our border.

Whenever a Senator can grab a mic, the first thing he is talking about is whether or not there is enough security in the bill, or if there are enough “teeth” or “triggers” for security. One would think that the highest bar of approval Scissors-32x32.pnghttp://dcclothesline.com/2013/06/24/a-citizens-rant-on-the-border-not-buying-political-lies/

Sarah Palin… “Holes in the Border As Big As the Holes in Their Amnesty Bill”

Posted on June 24, 2013 by Dean Garrison

Sarah Palin took to social media in the early morning hours on Monday to let everyone know what she thinks of the Immigration Bill. She began late Sunday morning by throwing a political uppercut directed at Florida Senator, and “Gang of Eight” member, Marco Rubio for his flip-flop on the amnesty issue. Clicking the link on the Twitter status clearly shows that she was responding to a Townhall article about Marco Rubio and his broken campaign promises. Here is the tweet: Scissors-32x32.png

Palin then took to Facebook and Twitter again, around 2AM Central time on Monday, to let the country know what her exact thoughts were on the immigration train wreck that is unfolding before our eyes. Below is a transcript of Sarah Palin’s Facebook Status Update:

Holes in the Border As Big As the Holes in Their Amnesty Bill

Just like they did with Obamacare, some in Congress intend to “Pelosi” the amnesty bill. They’ll pass it in order to find out what’s in it. And just like the unpopular, unaffordable Obamacare disaster, this pandering, rewarding-the-rule-breakers, still-no-border-security, special-interests-ridden, 24-lb disaster of a bill is not supported by informed Americans. The clusterfrak that is the immigration bill

By: DrJohn

The Senate immigration bill has morphed into a monster of grotesque characteristics. It is a clusterfrak. The difficulty in describing the bill is finding anything right with it at all. The bill was already questionable when two GOP Senators apparently suffered brain seizures and inexplicably added an Amendment that could have been written by Nancy Pelosi.

It allowed Harry Reid has insert welfare for casinos into the bill.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV) have inserted a provision that amounts to little more than a handout to Las Vegas casinos into the repackaged immigration reform bill, Breitbart News has learned. This provision, a brazen example of crony capitalism, was inserted into the immigration law enforcement section of the bill despite the fact that it has nothing whatsoever to do with “immigration” or “law enforcement.”

It allowed the insertion of an Obama stimulus package: Scissors-32x32.png

The Corker-Hoeven Amendment has been blasted by the National Council President of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement: Scissors-32x32.png

Obamnesty

June 24, 2013 By Daniel Greenfield

Marco Rubio has become the public face of amnesty, but the fate of Senator Cormyn’s border security amendment is a warning that it is the private face of amnesty that matters more than its public face. Cormyn’s amendment might have held up legalization until border security was in, though it probably wouldn’t even have done that much. It had the support of Marco Rubio, but was shot down by Obama.

That should have been a dealbreaker for the Republicans, but instead Obama got his way and there’s a good reason for that. The Gang of 8 is really a Gang of 9. And Obama is its ranking member.

“No decisions are being made without talking to us about it,” an Obama official told The New Yorker. “This does not fly if we’re not O.K. with it.”Scissors-32x32.png

I would say both horses are in a neck to neck tie for the finish line cool.png
