President Barack Obama's national security adviser, Tom Donilon, is resigning and will be replaced by the US ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice, marking a significant shakeup to the White House foreign policy team.

A White House official confirmed the personnel changes on Wednesday morning before an announcement by the president later.Scissors-32x32.png

Josh Kraushaar has an interesting National Journal column on Obama’s appointments of Susan “it was the YouTube video” Rice and Samantha “let’ invade Israel” Power today. Borrowing from the title of Power’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book, I think of these ladies as “a problem from hell,” but that’s unfair. They reflect the boss.

Here is the opening of Kraushaar’s column:

A hallmark of the Obama administration is its imperviousness to conventional Washington wisdom, a brash confidence that their way is the best way — critics be damned. As a resident contrarian, that type of independent thinking can often be refreshing and liberating. But there’s a thin line between confidence and cockiness – and the White House is treading awfully closer to the latter.

Now I think that Kraushaar is guilty of a failure of nerve here. He intimates that Obama has crossed the line between confidence and cockiness, but asserts only that he’s nudging up to it. Say it, man.

I think Kraushaar wants to say that Obama’s appointments represent an arrogance with which we have all become painfully familiar. Obama could use a contrarian voice! Why not just come out and say it?

Editorial: Susan Rice a puppet no more

Thursday, June 6, 2013

By: Boston Herald editorial staff

Membership in Team Obama has its rewards. And make no mistake about it Susan Rice is a member in good standing. That’s what happens when you take one for the team the way Rice did in the wake of the Benghazi attack.

Yesterday President Obama named Rice, who has been serving as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, as his national security adviser, replacing Tom Donilon. It is, of course, a post that doesn’t need Senate confirmation — something that would be problematic as members of Congress continue to wrestle with who knew what about Sept. 11, 2012, the night that Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans lost their lives.Scissors-32x32.png

Susan Rice’s Prize For Lies

June 6, 2013 By Joseph Klein

President Barack Obama’s foreign policy is in shambles all over the world. On his watch, the Middle East is crumbling into sectarian violence, not only in Syria but in Iraq where Obama has squandered the victory over Islamists achieved during George W. Bush’s administration. Scissors-32x32.png

Obama’s decision to promote Susan Rice is not only an insult to the Senate, where Rice stood no chance in her bid to succeed Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. More importantly, it is an insult to the memories of the four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens. They died in the premeditated terrorist attack that Rice whitewashed as a spontaneous violent reaction to an obscure anti-Muslim video in her TV rendition of the Obama administration’s prefabricated talking points.
