The Senate 2014- State of the Races, Part 1

The Senate elections in 2014 present yet another unique opportunity for the GOP to gain control of that body in Congress. Of the 33 races, 19 seats are held by Democrats with six of those Senators announcing their retirement. Of the 14 Republican seats up for reelection, only two incumbents (and possibly a third) have announced their reirement, but both are in fairly reliable red | Scissors-32x32.png

The Senate 2014- State of the Races, Part 2

Today’s entry focuses on the four races in the mountain states out west- Colorado, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. In these races, there are two Republican and two Democratic incumbents with one Democrat- Max Baucus in Montana- announcing his retirement at the end of this term. First, the fairly easy races. In Idaho, Republican Jim Risch will easily be reelected. There is a dirth of information | Scissors-32x32.png

Mary Landrieu’s re-election now a “toss-up”

By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | May 31st, 2013 at 12:00 AM

More than a year until the Congressional mid-term elections, and a group of Washington “political handicappers” say Senator Mary Landrieu’s chances of reelection have dropped to “pure toss-up.”

Why is Senator Landrieu seen as vulnerable by the non-partisan Rothenberg Political Report?

While Mary Landrieu’s hasn’t exactly been a Barack Obama cheerleader, she is a Democrat in a state now firmly Republican. Scissors-32x32.pnghttp://www.redstate.com/joesquire/2013/05/31/mary-landrieu-toss-up/
