Would You Believe The Administration Got Phone Records of The House Of Representatives?

http://hotair.com/greenroom/archives/2013/05/15/would-you-believe-the-administration-bugged-the-phones-in-the-house-of-representatives/

That’s the revelation made by California Congressman Devin Nunes, who sits on the House Ways And Means Committee on Hugh Hewitt’s Show Wednesday night. Here’s the key part of that transcript:

HH: The idea that this might be a Geithner-Axelrod plan, and by that, the sort of intimation, Henry II style, will no one rid me of this turbulent priest, will no one rid me of these turbulent Tea Parties, that might have just been a hint, a shift of an eyebrow, a change in the tone of voice. That’s going to take a long time to get to. I don’t trust the Department of Justice on this. Do you, Congressman Nunes?

DN: No, I absolutely do not, especially after this wiretapping incident, essentially, of the House of Representative. I don’t think people are focusing on the right thing when they talk about going after the AP reporters. The big problem that I see is that they actually tapped right where I’m sitting right now, the Cloak Room.

HH: Wait a minute, this is news to me.

DN: The Cloak Room in the House of Representatives.

HH: I have no idea what you’re talking about.

DN: So when they went after the AP reporters, right? Went after all of their phone records, they went after the phone records, including right up here in the House Gallery, right up from where I’m sitting right now. So you have a real separation of powers issue that did this really rise to the level that you would have to get phone records that would, that would most likely include members of Congress, because as you know…

HH: Wow.

DN: …members of Congress talk to the press all the time...

What we know Obama doesn't know grows daily

A key tenet of Barack Obama's grand design to radically transform the country he did not grow up in is to corrode Americans' confidence in their revered institutions. The Supreme Court. Private enterprise. The national capitol complex. Big business (except for its political donations to him). Congress. Especially Congress, even when it does his bidding.

If Americans come to doubt what they used to believe in, it will be easier for Obama to drive home his own brand of solutions.

Check this from his commencement address in Ohio last week:

"Now, if we’re being honest with ourselves, as you’ve studied and worked and served to become good citizens, the fact is that all too often the institutions that give structure to our society have, at times, betrayed your trust."

He didn't mean Chicago Democrats who haven't kept their political promises. Here's another line from that revealing speech:

"I think it’s fair to say our democracy isn’t working as well as we know it can. It could do better....Unfortunately, you’ve grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity that’s at the root of all our problems; some of these same voices also doing their best to gum up the works."

Well, in recent days this suggested line of thinking has turned around and bit Obama on his own South Side. Let's recap:

From BonedJello:

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him,

"Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."

The man consulted his portable GPS and replied,

"You're in a hot air balloon approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude."

She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Republican."

"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"

"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."

The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Democrat."

"I am," replied the balloonist. "But how did you know?"

"Well," said the man, "You don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You've made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and now you expect ME to solve your problem. You're in EXACTLY the same position you were in before we met, but somehow, now, it's MY fault."

About two weeks ago, I read Elizabeth Scalia's new book: Strange Gods: Unmasking the Idols in Everyday Life. It is a very thoughtful and powerful book, as she compels us to look at what we value in our daily life - what do we let get between ourselves and God?

@Valin had already noted how she'd mentioned the internet. :D

It's a good book, but don't expect it to help you to feel good about what you are doing. That is the whole point - find what we can correct in ourselves and grow in our love of and with God.

Yesterday, she posted this about how the Pope is talking about rejecting everyday idols and in that post, she added this 15 minute interview with then Cardinal Bergoglio. It is a very thought-provoking video. Again, like Elizabeth Scalia, the Pope challenges us. There are things that we enjoy and these can be good, but what he challenges us to consider is when these things become more important than our relationship with God.

Progress Gets Canceled

Brent Bozell

May 17, 2013

The annual network list of canceled primetime shows cannot be pleasing to the progressives who measure shows based on their cultural and political usefulness. "TV Will Be a Lot Less Gay Next Year," the commissars complained at Slate.com. They counted 11 canceled shows that featured regular gay characters.

That bothersome thing called the market: why must it get in the way!

(Snip)

In the wake of these cancellations, GLAAD culture cop Wilson Cruz sounded the "diversity" alarm: "The sheer number of characters who will no longer be on the air means diversity on television is once again at risk," he said. "These cancellations mean networks have to make a concerted effort to ensure the 2013-2014 season truly reflects the diversity of their audience. With inclusive programs like 'Modern Family' and 'Glee' continuing to lead the ratings and collect praise from critics, it's in a network's best interest."

Oh, good grief. First it's the Weiner guy, then O.J., and now John Edwards? Why can't they all just stay away?

Well he should. After all there are still golf courses out there he hasn't searched yet to find his wife's killer.

Another hearing on capitol hill where no one knows anything. The one enforcement guy seems pretty good though. He apparently was the one who finally brought all this public.

Not Ready for Primetime Players

Why is television canceling its homosexuals shows?

Daniel J. Flynn

5.17.13

Broadcast networks featured more homosexual characters during the 2012-2013 season than ever before. The Big Four networks lost 7.5 percent of their viewership, with a more profound exodus occurring among the 18-49 demographic coveted by Madison Avenue. Do mainstream viewers not care for so many gay men in their living rooms?

The coincidence of these two trend lines — gays up, ratings down — inevitably resulted in a record number of cancellations for gay-themed programs earlier this week. A Huffington Post blogger referred to it as “TV’s Big Gay Bloodbath.” A GLAAD spokesman lamented that “diversity on television is once again at risk” to the Hollywood Reporter. “I’m so mad at every programming director right now,” flamboyant talk-show host Frank DeCaro remarked. “I’m going back to watching porn.”

The axed shows include Partners, about gay-straight architectural partners and their romantic partners, one of whom is a homosexual vegan; Smash, a Glee ripoff set on the only place gayer than primetime, Broadway; and The New Normal, which follows a woman who becomes a surrogate mother for a well-adjusted gay couple after her husband cheats on her. Ellen Barkin, who plays the stalwart Republican grandmother of the surrogate baby, issues frequent racist and anti-gay comments.

(Snip)

There is another reason, maybe these just were not very good shows. Or it could be that people are slowly turning away from broadcast TV?

Obama’s really bad two media days in one infographic

William A. Jacobson

Friday, May 17, 2013

The infographic below, the National Dialogue Monitor by TargetPoint Consulting May 15-16, 2013, was provided to me by former Legal Insurrection contributor Matthew Knee, who now works at TargetPoint.

It shows Obama’s really bad two media days:

Each bubble represents a topic discussed in relation to President Obama from May 15-16, 2013, sized by volume and shaded according to average sentiment. This incorporates mentions gathered across all media channels, including news media, social media, Twitter, and general websites (including the blogosphere). The greener the bubble, the more positive the issue; the redder the bubble, the more negative.

Scandals and other negative stories have dominated the news, tearing into Obama’s information flow across the

board and bleeding into areas that are usually considered positive for the President.

Saudi Salafist cleric "We like our women HOT."

"Cooler forbidden for women: Saudi Salafist"

TEHRAN, May 15 (MNA) – A Saudi Salafist cleric has prohibited women from turning the ventilation system on in the absence of husbands.

Those wacky clerics.

@Pepper!

The woman in the photo at the link looks......cool. The cleric's concept is....insane? Don't hot people remove clothing faster than people that feel cool? This goes purely to complete subjugation of women. [which the pic @ the link seems to debunk]
