Valin
Denver Post: John Ingold 4/8/13 Fox News reporter Jana Winter arrives at Arapahoe County court on April 1, 2013. She could be put into jail at a hearing this week after refusing to reveal anonymous law enforcement sources to the court. When journalists following the Aurora theater shooting case file into the courtroom for a hearing this week, one will do so with an extra weight on her shoulders. The reason: She could be ordered to jail by the end of the day. On Wednesday, the judge overseeing the James Holmes trial is expected to decide if he will force Fox News reporter Jana Winter to testify about sources to whom she promised anonymity. If Winter is told to speak and refuses — many journalists consider it a point of pride to honor their sources' trust no matter the cost — she could face six months in jail for contempt of court, Judge Carlos A. Samour Jr. said at a hearing last week. It is a rare showdown, and one that journalism advocates say cuts at the heart of a journalist's independence.
