Federal Jury Convicts Weapons Traffickers

Three Philippine nationals have been convicted by a federal jury in Los Angeles, CA for "importing military weapons through a shipment to Long Beach in a plot to arm Mexican drug cartels and gang members" within the United States as reported by Robert J. Lopez for the Los Angeles Times. Among the weapons which the crew conspired to sell to the narcos were machine guns, rocket-propelled grenade launchers and explosive devices.

 

Meanwhile, the transnational crime group MS-13 which originated in Los Angeles is ramping up its firepower including automatic military assault rifles, shoulder-fired missle launchers and light anti-tank weapons, and is partnering with drug cartel Los Zetas as reported by Robert Beckhusen for Wired.
