Geee
Investors Business Daily: Government Failure: With $1.4 billion in help from American taxpayers, Nissan has begun assembling its electric vehicle in Tennessee. It had better use some of the money to buy a large parking lot to store all those unsold cars. During Obama's first year in office, he promised to "put 1 million plug-in hybrid vehicles on America's roads by 2015." All the government had to do was spend $5 billion in taxpayers' money. Nissan is willing to be a cooperative partner in the administration's green dream. But then what business wouldn't be if it had been lent $1.4 billion by the federal government? Loan or not, America's highways are not going to be struck by a flood or even modest trickle of electric cars by 2015. Last year Nissan sold a mere 9,819 of its Leaf EVs in the U.S., an increase of 1.5% over 2011. With more than 250 million passenger cars in this country, the Leaf hasn't even reached the status of minor player.
