obama-returning-to-washington-to-seek-fiscal-deal.html?_r=0New York Times:

President Obama was planning to cut his Christmas vacation short and return to Washington to make a last-ditch push for a compromise on a tax and spending dispute with Congress that remains stubbornly unresolved.

A White House official said on Tuesday that the president could depart as early as Wednesday.

Meanwhile, both chambers of Congress will come back from their holiday hiatus on Thursday and return to work. While there are growing signs that some members of both parties are prepared to accept a deal that raises taxes on people at the highest income levels, there is considerable distance between Republicans and Democrats and no guarantee that an agreement could pass.

I feel sorry for him.... not. So will they send AF1 back for the family so they can enjoy the rest of their vacation?

Cut his vacation short? I should think so! Not that it will make any difference but at least it will look better. I still don't think he could lead himself or anyone else out of a wet paper bag.

"[Obama] jetted out to Hawaii to resume his vacation at an extra cost of more than $3 million to taxpayers. The price tag is in addition to more than $4 million that is already being spent on the Obamas' Hawaii idyll, bringing the total cost of the excursion to well over $7 million. ... And that doesn't include the price tag for the massive security operation required to move the president or the cost of the cargo plane that follows Air Force One around. The Obamas could have saved taxpayers millions by returning from Hawaii together after Christmas and then resuming their vacation at one of the many ritzy resorts that lie outside of Washington. If the beach is a must, even a trip to Florida would have been far less expensive." --White House Dossier's Keith Koffler

Not much news about him going back to Hawaii. Almost seems like the press does not want to bring it up.

Almost does seem like that, doesn't it?

He didn't even sign the freaking fiscal cliff bill. He's either going to "auto-pen" it or they'll send another military jet back & forth. What a putz.

Obama's Staff Use Autopen to Sign 'Fiscal Cliff' Legislation

No signing ceremony.

President Barack Obama's staff used an autopen (a machine that mimics one's signature) to sign the "fiscal cliff" legislation that Congress passed on New Year's Day. There was no ceremony or photo-op for the autopen bill signing.

(Snip)

George W. Bush, though, never signed a bill with an autopen. Obama has now done it 3 times.

Obama is becoming adept at signing with the "auto-putz."

BTW: Watching the ceremony for Obama's "auto-putz" signing, would finally be a TV event I would watch, as long as he isn't there to mess it up....
