Draggingtree
RedState: Three Tools to Educate an Uninformed Electorate on the Fiscal Cliff By: Ben Howe (Diary) | December 11th, 2012 at 08:41 AM Over several months now, I have been devoting attention to the question of how conservatives can win both policy debates and elections, not by appropriating policies that Democrats advocate and putting a Republican stamp on them, but rather by educating Americans and converting those who don’t already share our perspective to it. My basic thesis is that we win by getting more people to agree with us (others would have us believe that we win by getting us to agree with more people). In the last election, we saw a significant failure on this front, both with regard to our own nominee being less committed to both conservative policies and this effort than many of us would have liked, and with regard to the result (voters supporting the guy who ran on a platform of higher spending and more debt). We also saw Republicans fail to use technology and digital communications mechanisms adequately to educate and persuade voters of the merits
Draggingtree
If This Is “Progress” On The Fiscal Cliff Then We’re Screwed December 11, 2012 | Filed under Economics,Politics | Posted by Doug Johnson From The Hill: Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and President Obama have exchanged new offers in negotiations over tax hikes and spending cuts in a sign the talks are making progress. The White House made its offer on Monday, lowering its $1.6 trillion request for new tax revenues to $1.4 trillion over 10 years, according to a senior administration official. Republicans made a counteroffer Tuesday that remained at $800 billion in new tax revenues. Boehner and Obama also spoke to one another on Tuesday night in another sign that talks are progressing. http://wizbangblog.com/2012/12/11/if-this-is-progress-on-the-fiscal-cliff-then-were-screwed/
